When sandman first materializes out of the pile of sand and looks at the locket and is all sad and walks away

that is a fucking well done piece of special effects right there.

That is one of my favorite "Harry" moments in the movie. That and the one where he and Peter are fighting and starts talking about how he kissed MJ. He says something like "Mmmmm Strawberries."

I don't even get why people are calling him that. If you know the name Hobgoblin, you should know that he isn't Harry. Ultimate Universe doesn't fucking count.

I thought the movie was pretty good. The only big thing that annoyed me was that once again, masks really weren't doing their job. Not as bad as the last movie but it still irritated me that the New Goblin mask pretty much has a total air-time of like 8 seconds in the movie. I kept thinking "Jeez, why did you bother adding a cool mask to the suit, Harry, if you're just gonna fight without it?" Nerdy, I know.

One big thing I was glad about was how they handled Sandman, especially not killing him off. The nice thing about Norman's and Doc Ock's deaths in the movies is that they got a window to come back in thanks to their 'exits' being simular to the comics. Not like the Batman movies in the 90's. That's probably the one big thing that I think Burton did wrong, especially with the Joker. If you wanted to get rid of a strong and popular villain, do it in a way that leaves an open window in case you can get the actor back. Hard to do so after choosing the street-pizza route.

Oh, and major props to Willem Dafoe. Here's a guy who's apparentlly quite satisfied to come in when needed in the sequals and not use his original contribution to bargin for unnesessary screen-time.

the only part I really didn't like was the blatant american flag shot.

    I mean, come on

I also did not enjoy this part of the film.

There was kind of a "Hobgoblin" mask, but you're righ, there was no Hobgoblin in the film.

I liked what they did for Harry, I always felt bummed the way he went out in the comics.

I had mixed feelings about the snowboard.

I also had minor problems with the dude being able to do so much complex electronics work seeing as how Peter had to help him pass high school science, but I guess the dude had a couple of years to work on the stuff.

Interesting to see how a lot of fans have adjusted pretty well to the New Goblin suit and gear. I suppose seeing it in action tears away that 'xtreme' vibe the initial screenshots gave off. It helps too that the Sky-Stick's possiblly a homage to the original Goblin 'glider' from the comics.

Harry was... kinda lame and flamboyant, imo.
When he got clotheslined by Peter and hit his head on the pipe, I was thinking, "Man, what a dumbass." He really should have looked into wearing a real helmet instead of a mask that still let his goofy curly hair show through.

    EDIT: Oh yeah, also...
"I didn't kill your father! He killed himself! He tried to kill me!"
    "Shut uuuuuuup!"

I saw it last night. I thought it was good. Thought that there was enough Venom in the movie, but not enough Sandman. They really should've made him or Venom the only villain. I also really liked Topher Grace as Brock in this one

It wasn't nearly as bad as everybody's saying on here. There's a lot of problems with it but I still enjoyed the flick and it did some things really well like making Brock a sympathetic character which he never was with me in the comics and when Sandman first pulls himself together was probably the best scene in the movie.

George Lucas seems to have an opinion on Spider-Man 3
Lucas said that he has seen all the summer movies since his company, Industrial Light & Magic, does most of the special effects. The only one they didn't work on was Spider-Man 3. What did he think of it?

"It's silly. It's a silly movie," he said. "There just isn't much there. Once you take it all apart, there's not much story, is there? People thought 'Star Wars' was silly, too," he added, with a wink. "But it wasn't."
