Yes, it looks that way from what I could tell.
So exactly how much time will you be spending in the character creator?

On one hand fuck people who’d walk ON art.
On the other that seems a bit dangerous.

Some art is interactive.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Yes.
There's a section at the beginning where they do character creation, including a couple of "Q&A"s on who your childhood hero was, how you got into the biz, and why you happen to be in Night City now.
Lots of options for faces, skin colors, cyberware prominence, scars, etc.
@MagicPrime just posted this video that goes into just the character creation portion that was shown during the demo:

Having never played a Fallout game (yet), this seems to strike me as a Fallout without the, uh, fallout.
Edit: Actually, thanks to stims and enhancements, I'm guessing the better analogy is a modern version of Witcher.
Thank you! I've had this on my wishlist for ages, and have been looking forward to its release!
I want one where instead of a zone closing in, every death makes everyone else bigger.
So at the end of the game people are crouching behind houses and such.
I prefer not to think of these experiences in terms of "time"... but rather... "results."
It's a mix of influences. A lot of the combat reminds me more of Deus Ex though the potential for heavy item use does echo The Witcher.
The widely branching quest structure feels more unique though. Even The Witcher tended to be more about how a quests resolved and less having it approached in different ways.

I could have sworn there was an FPS on a Nintendo device with that exact premise. Every bullet you land on someone else makes you bigger depending on where you shoot them, where if you shoot them in the head your head gets bigger, or in the legs your legs get bigger, etc...

Endgame basically boiled down to chaining as many executions and tentakills together as possible.
Same for vendetta.
This was actually fun and took me back to killzone 1 on the PSOne. I forget how by there were special execution animations for each gun. Rico's heavy bastard would play out with one animation that was quick, while Luger's stealth rifle would involve beating a soldier's head in for several blows. Then there was the combat knife.
I carried the knife an obscenely long way to make the most of it, throwing the knife, rushing forward, yanking it out of their throat.
Memories.
Rather disappointed Vendetta didn't include animations for each gun, just each gun type.
But fuck it, it was fun.
Vendetta final boss spoiler..
Darklings kept me from getting bored.
Setting up sound and visuals now and then I'm gonna start.

Also, thanks! Woo! Nothing like a gift of Agony to make one's day!
I volunteer!
Edit: Looks like I missed the fact that this already started
I'll be curious to hear about that one. I remember playing the first one on my new PC and having it get stuck with some looping in the dialogue. Those games are basically the precursor to World in Conflict. They seemed pretty neat at the time.
edit: I should have said I played the first one on my first self-built PC about 14 years ago. Whoops.

Edit: Speaking of I just beat the game! Anime as fuck and hectic hunting and match 3 gameplay with additional challenges you can strive for to improve your final score. Even lost a few matches on the normal difficulty so it definetly isn't a cakewalk.
Quite a few nice games I was able to grab from the Twitch Prime. Course it's doing no favors for my backlog.

Really liked it. Certainly not perfect but point and click fans should check it out for something different and worthwhile. At least once you've finished Unavowed, which I'm going to back into (holy FUCK that opening hour of gameplay, amirite?)
You didn't miss much Talus, I didn't get to rename people or make mechs until after I was done playing. Game is slightly better than okay in my head. It has some fun elements mashed together from games like XCOM, FTL, and Mech-warrior. The graphics in game look good when they're zoomed out, but zoomed in looks like a mess. Stretched textures, some serious pop-in, and some polygonal models make it look very rough. Outside of combat the game looks great, the 3D model representations of your crew mates and the inside of the ship look good, and comic-y cinematics are awesome. Definitely liked those, just wish the game itself looked as good as the rest of it. Camera zoom was also a big problem for me, the game is set to zoom in by default on combat between two mechs, but every time it would zoom in on a rock in the way instead of the mechs. After like the 5th or 6th time I just turned it off. Neat feature, not executed properly.
Gameplay wise, I played three - maybe four missions in about two hours, and I had a good bit of fun. There's way too much info going on on the screen for a first player like myself to catch everything, so the first go around on my actual first mission after the prologue was a suicide run. My biggest con is the sheer amount of world-building and lore through text. I felt like I read 5-6 chapters of a book by the time I get into a mission. Backstory maker, intro story, prologue, in game lines, definitions on abilities, exposition story between missions, intros to the next missions, etc... It's all text based. There's a couple voicelines for the main story, but they're mostly just reactionary lines to what is going on during the missions. If you're into that thing, cool. I just wanted to be a mech army does the stompy stomps. What I have read of the story seems decent enough and well thought out. There's a LOT of lore here.
tldr; In short, all I really wanted from BattleTech was to build a PA crew and do tactics missions, but this is more of a Turn Based Strategy than a tactics game. I think I personally might like something similar to Into The Breach more, but what is here is a decent strategy game with a ton of depth, LOTS of story, and if you have the time, a vast amount of customization. I don't think it's worth $40, but it's a decent buy on sale.

Counterpoint:
Those are not the playtimes of people who didn't get value for money for BATTLETECH. The list goes on, too. Don't make me post the whole thing, Koopah!
The game has a learning curve, yes. Folks here and in the thread can help. (Although the pilot skills were just tweaked in a 1.2 update, so even the grognards are regaining their sealegs. Gone may be the days where Bulwark was best full stop.)
And like just about any kickstarter game, it's not going to be AAA polished everywhere and deliver all of its exposition in cinematics and voiced content. But the reading does slow down a bit as you get out of the connected series of story missions at the beginning and have more flexibility to take procedural missions for cash, rep and that sweet, sweet salvage.
So, you know, strong disagree on assessment of BATTLETECH as not being worth full retail.

The plot...
That's awesome. Haha, I imagine I could lose myself in it if I allowed. In terms of value, I can't deny that there's ton of game there but I think it needs some more polish. I didn't realize it was a Kickstarter, that makes more sense. I think in the Steam market, you have to nail everything on first launch because people will just play something else if they don't fall in love with it. Also granted, the game didn't really open up until after I felt finished with it. I could definitely drop a bunch more hours in it, or I could keep backloggering.
Twitch: KoopahTroopah - Steam: Koopah
Yeah, it was a pretty small team. All the animations in the game, for example, were done by one person. (Which just amazes me.)
As for nailing everything on launch, I guess? Maybe on Steam proper and Twitch. (Although there are plenty of games these days that were messes at launch but gained a following when the dev teams stuck with them, heard feedback, and made the game better over time.) Here in the Steam thread I would hope we'd operate on a slightly different standard, you know?
I mean, it's now being published by Paradox Interactive. Would you try Crusader Kings II for 1.9 hours and then say, "So much text!! Started in Welsh hinterlands and was doing okay until the neighboring Duke decided I was unfit for the throne, the pope declared me a pariah, I declined to marry my sister and now I'm dead. Not worth $40."
tl;dr: There's a difference between not-my-cup-of-tea or not what I was hoping for and not worth full value. If it's not for you, that's obviously fine. I'm not arguing that you need to spend the time to climb the learning curve or immerse yourself in the lore. There are too many games to get bogged down in something you aren't feeling. All that said, if you are interested and want to spend a bit more time with it, I am super happy to help.
