i'm down for a miserable and punishing show but this show sure is wallowing in it to a point where even I'm turned off
It gets better!
ehhhhhhhhh
Once it stops grinding its fingers into your eyes, everything bad that happens afterward feels pretty trivial, and everything good feels saccharine
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
crunchyroll recently put sorcerer hunters up, which is something i've wanted to watch for the last...twenty years, since it was in mixxzine. it's very slayers-y, if you're interested
Oh Sorcerer Hunters! Talk about a horny blast from the past - only realized years later that the garrote-wielding red head only had suspenders to cover her top instead of a tiny jacket. Excellent ED tho.
huh, the anime on crunchyroll has her in a little jacket
e: seems like there was a movie version where the outfit is more explicit maybe?

So, after years of kind of liking the anime's Shikata Akiko ED and having read a few chapters of a manga adaptation, I decided to read what I could find of the Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi/A Dark Rabbit Has 7 Lives light novels.
Of which only 4 are translated out of 13 or so, but screw it, I had to sate my long-standing curiosity about this series that seemed kind of interesting but that I never got around to watching or reading or reading.
Man, these are written really fucking poorly, and not like in a 'this translation might just suck' way, like the pacing is trash and it will build to something shocking, then the next chapter is back to nothing happening and then like a few pages in the character says 'actually that was resolved off screen'.
Which is very weird, because the author is Takaya Kagami, i.e. the writer for Owari no Seraph and Legend of Legendary Heroes.
Anyway, the world seems interesting and I suspect once it quits going in circles it would be a much better read.
Except those 4 translated volumes barely set the stage, I'm still not sure if the heroine is like an insane time abyss that thinks she's a teenage girl or what. Is seems like...she's an ancient vampire that chooses to look like a young girl, but has forgotten that she's an even more ancient, completely nuts end-the-world crazy vampire? Maybe? The anime supposedly adopts roughly the same material as these four volumes, but apparently quite poorly?
So I have accomplished nothing but wasting a few hours, I guess. The wiki is a bunch of stubs, so I'm cursed with this dissatisfaction forever. Maybe someone translated a manga adaptation further.
...speaking of series that I was reminded existed because I set Foobar to shuffle...
Did anyone but me watch this goofiness? This has to be like top 5 for 'super dumb series I watched all the way through', if we don't count ones that are merely gross or sketchy.

I like the implication that Patrick is going to beat the shit out of Squidward.

One got badly scarred, the other had to replace body parts with his devil fruit powers.

Um so what might be my favourite queer manga in recent years is getting a film adaptation next year, which is something I would never have expected and it's extremely exciting.
Huh, the newest D.Gray Man chapter (I actually thought it was dead) came out. After well over 200 of the bloody things we finally get a glimpse of why the Noah are so angry.
Because it sure looks like God obliterated the modern world and remade it!
the creator of D. Gray Man is believed to have developed a pretty serious degenerative illness. She's really reclusive though so it's hard to tell. People just know that she's been hospitalized a lot.

Speaking of insane, Haikyuu's recent development!
I am impressed with the balls on the mangaka to just ignore expectations
I've been watching the first few episodes of Sorcerer Hunters based on the "it's sort of like Slayers" recommendation, and it's not... AS good as Slayers but it's fine I guess, and I'm kind of desperate for swords and sorcery fantasy anime that's not a bloody isekai or isekai derivative. Weirdly though, I get a strong sense from the art style and the character designs that this somehow shares some production DNA with Pokemon? I don't see any obvious links between them on wikipedia though, different directors and studios. I guess it's probably just the shared 90s anime aesthetic making me get that feeling.
e: maybe they contracted the inbetweening out to the same korean studio, heh

oh cool there's a teaser up? it's not much though

ANN has some more details too!
I am excessively excited about this, my god.
They skipped ahead and cut some things, presumably for time/budget reasons, but what's there is very faithful to the manga and super pretty
Isn't that the P3 FeMC? Probably DLC for the dancing spinoff.
Read it
I don't know if I've ever read something quite so... insane? Expectation subverting? Something like that. Not for the faint of heart.
Dumb. The word you're looking for is dumb.
It's so fucking stupid.
Still hilarious to read.
Taichi, why are you the way that you are?
