I don't think any professional sport has really got a handle on the problems created by paying seventeen year old prodigies tens of thousands of pounds a week
Hasn't the NHL been fairly competent at this through rigid discipline of new players and mentorships? I've heard stories of new potential players showing up for a practice late and being told to pack their stuff and go back to the minors to pound it into their heads that they aren't special and need to follow the rules. On the other hand I've met some minor league players who were remarkably arrogant despite being like a C tier player on a minor league team...
