I don't believe that until someone other than Newsweek reports it
Newsweek is supposed to be a neoconservative rag these days, so if anything them reporting on that is more damning IMO
I've seen twitter-speculation (based on Newsweek's status as a stealth conservative-rag, I assume) that they're purposefully trumpeting a false charge/detail that can be disproven, so that the cult can then be like "well that charge was phony, so they're all phony!"
I know it won't come as a shock to anyone here, but boy howdy is it wild to watch the Republican party just openly confirm, repeatedly, that they don't believe in or support literally anything.
Law and Order? Overthrow the FBI!
Homeland Security? Repeal the Espionage Act!
The Espionage Act DOES include a dog shit provision that makes it illegal to make statements during wartime that would hurt the war effort. It was used primarily to put socialists in jail for speaking against the draft during WWI. Eugene Debbs was sentenced to 10 years for violating it after addressing a crowd on a street corner that included draft-age men. Later, JFK tried unsuccessfully to use it to silence US reporters in Vietnam. It, or at least that provision, should absolutely be repealed.
That said, Rand Paul is a disingenuous shit who never seemed to care about any of this until exactly two days ago (funny he doesn't mention who was specifically targeted by the law back then).
While I appreciate Acosta not taking a non-answer for an answer from Yang, you don't really see journalists do that to members of the big parties. Occasionally somebody will do that to a Democrat, but it never happens to Republicans who have even worse answers than Yang.

They've started to do it with this document warrant stuff, but that's only because they can talk about the thing making them money right now.
I'm skeptical that Donald Trump will ever face legal consequences for anything
But if I had to pick him getting consequences for something it would be the sexual assault. I don't give a fuck if he nicked a bunch of classified documents.

All crimes are crimes and in a just world he would've been yeeted into the Atlantic via trebuchet years before he ever though about running for prssident. However those classified documents may involve US nuclear shit and there's a non zero percent chance that everybody from MBS to Kim Jong Un has rifled through them at their leisure. The knock on effect of this is something that will directly affect a lot of people. Millions perhaps.
So like, we should absolutely care he knicked a bunch of classified documents.
I may have missed something but given that they’ve listed the contents of the files they found, I think they would have mentioned if it was nuclear related.

Gotta hand it to Yang and the networks: there's a perfect symbiosis of "I need attention or I will literally wither away and die" coupled with "We need to facilitate the gormless flailing of histrionic folks in order to draw an audience" between the two of them.

Isn't part of the problem with Newsweek that much like Forbes you never know if "Newsweek reports" means "Newsweek the magazine with staff" or "some rando's blog on the Newsweek domain" ?

I do not believe there has been an official listing of the contents of the files recovered beyond what their classification level is.

Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.
While we don't know for sure what was in those documents, we do know that they took Sensitive Compartmented Information, Highly Classified Secret Squirrel intel out of there. So even if the nuke stuff is minor there's the possibility of all sorts of National Security related shit being fucked.

That was part of what they found, yes, but they were looking for Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons, which you know, very alarming

No the reporters were confused: some of the boxes had Tr*mp's macaroni pictures
Multiple cases of right-wingers trying to invade FBI offices due to this, and just utterly tripping over the curb on it.
One guy thought he could use a nail gun to get through bullet proof glass in the lobby of the screening building which wasn't even the working office of the FBI.

It should be duly noted this guy is dead as fuck now.
Edit: not in a figurative since. He fled the scene and the fuzz dropped him somewhere else after a brief shootout.
He fled to a cornfield by the Ren faire grounds in Ohio

i was gonna say, of all the people/organizations that right-wing nutjobs feel the need to send death threats/doxxes/gunmen at, the FBI is probably the best equipped to both protect themselves and punish the perpetrators.

I dunno, if the FBI cracks down TOO hard on the white supremacists they're soon gonna run into staffing shortages

Literally a dumber version subplot of "Skyfall". JFC!
And we all know Trump's bae, Vlad, had first rights to that list.
The Espionage Act is bad, actually!
Law and Order? Overthrow the FBI!
Homeland Security? Repeal the Espionage Act!
They want the FBI around. Murdering civil rights activists and kicking down doors over unpaid fines is like half of conservatism.

Hate this feckless idiot.

The Washington Post: FBI searched Trump’s home to look for nuclear documents and other items, sources say.
