Terrible first twenty minutes at old Trafford. Thankfully, united didn't choose this time to let me down.

Pochettino deciding that only way to follow up not winning anything at Spurs and the customary Ligue 1 victory at PSG is to have a go at getting Chelsea to survive relegation next season.

Just so that it was said in this thread: Luton Town have secured promotion to the Premier League, after beating Coventry City 5-6 on penalties

They were relegated to being a non-league side in 2009, and were only promoted back to the football league in 2014

They'll have to make some hasty, extensive, and expensive upgrades to Kenilworth Road, a tiny stadium that they plan to be moving out of soon

Also, it's in the middle of some row houses:

edit: Also Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu is the first player to go from non-league to Premier League with the same club

Is when Luton got saved by a consortium.

It is interesting to note that Luton’s current CEO, Gary Sweet, appears in this video and is part of getting rid of the group who were going to gut the club of all its resources.

I think Gary Sweet has won CEO of the division a few times.

When I came to Wolves a lot of friends asked me why.

I mean, I get it, but also: harsh.

Camp Nou is sixty-five years old.

Tradition is a mighty beast to slay. It's why the Red Sox and Cubs still play in stadia over 100 years old.

Part of it is that some stadia are just old and haven't been invested in for a while *cough* Old Trafford *cough*.
But ones like the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Emirates, and even the Etihad would be what I'd call fairly swish.

A soccer game runs for only about two hours with only a fifteen minute break in the middle.

A football game runs forever and stops every five seconds with another fifteen minute break in the middle.

I mean, pardon my stupid yank question but is that stadium really so different from Craven Cottage? I remember walking through a sleepy row house neighborhood to get to that one as well, and a high tech cathedral of football it was not.

its become a bit of a meme at this stage but if you've not seen it, you need to essentially walk through people's back gardens to get into the away end at kenilworth road

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIlFXkEeZ5o

craven cottage is near some residences, kenilworth is literally built into them

I guess the Saudi's just bought the PGA?

Maybe after they bought a 35 year old La Liga player for $400 million over two years?

Dang; bringing a bunch of friends and their kids with me to this weekend’s Revs v. Miami match. If this deal had already been done, and if Gillette had grass, that could have turned the entire group of kids into rabid soccer fans for life.

the full name is Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami which makes sense considering the area has a big Hispanic population and a new team should try tapping into that

Real Salt Lake is still the dumbest thing in the league

I've just realised that inter Miami is in the same conference as Montreal Impact (Club de Foot Montreal is a terrible name, I refuse to acknowledge it) so time to have some shitty poutine and go watch Messi in the Saputo, I guess.

Though they'll probably shift to the big O if they can get away with it.

I’ll believe it when I actually see him in a Miami shirt.

    But sounds like it’s happening.

Should be a fun little shitshow for MLS fans. If Ibra’s stint is any indicator, he’ll top the league in assists/goals and Miami will still miss the playoffs. Welcome to American sports, bro.

Edit: Oh and a lot of people are gonna pay big money for tickets to Miami away games only to watch him not travel for them. Doubly so for any team playing on turf.

Seriously considering selling my tickets for Miami at Atlanta, pretty sure it would cover the next 2 years of season tickets.
