Football Manager 2024 is free on Epic Game Store this week. I'm assuming this is last years edition, but having never played any of them figured the price was right to try it out.
It's the current year edition. The new ones release around November each year.
It can be intimidating at first, but there's a reason why it's so fucking popular. Free is certainly a good price point to learn the ropes.
However, they're moving the series to the Unity engine and it's been problematic for them. So FM25 will be delayed and some features are being removed. And needless to say, some die-hards are pissed. I don't buy it every year anyway because I play other games and can accept long term play with a single edition. But I'd picked up the console version of FM24 and am looking forward to getting stuck in.

I’m given to understand that the revamp is to make the competition more exciting but I’ve no idea what this means for these two teams, or in fact any of the teams that played tonight beyond winning is usually the best, and drawing is a bit better than losing.
I look forward to seeing some kind of league table of teams that won’t all play each other at the end of the week and be none the wiser of how this format works.
If I were being cynical, I’d just say it was a way to squeeze more games out of players who might be reaching their limit of how many games they can play. If I was being ultra cynical I’d say this new system is designed to keep the high profile teams in the competition for as long as possible and stop any upsets of someone like Barcelona getting knocked out and losing TV money.
But maybe this new system will make things exciting? I really have no idea.
