ultimately I think Ratfish was like a high six or low seven out of ten, still pretty darn funny in spite of some poor game design -- it's just that it caps off a season that was otherwise like a 9/10 average with like an 8/10 minimum, so it's an outlier in quality in spite of still having some very good bits
I think my disappointment with the finale is just that it didn't FEEL like a Game Changer episode. I know they've done episodes without the set before, but this one really went far away from the usual structure. As a parody of The Circle or whatever, it was interesting, but as a Game Changer episode I think it missed the mark a bit.
1) Silence 2) Books must be returned by the last date shown 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality
Rekha got fucking robbed! She had the entire list figured out for two rounds in a row but loses because the Ratfish liked Katie's art more? Bullshit.
I liked that Katie won after getting knocked out so early in other competitions but this felt hollow.
I did like the recurring gag that everyone targets Brennan for being a fierce competitor, but I don't think he's ever made it to the back half of any competition.

Brennan made it to the final 2 in their original Survivor game. This is the second one he was in so it makes sense to take him out before he has a chance to make a move. Rekha did note she was taking a risk leaving Katie in there so I don't feel too bad for her. She made a tactical decision and it blew up in her face.
The latest episode of Thousandaires is quite fun though, even if I think Katie should've won with
Getting a drag show done with other thousandaires for that show. But technically Lily did get her that whole PR rundown, so whatever. Still fun seeing what people come up with the budget!

We recently subbed to Dropout and are watching it via Firefox on a computer and... it doesn't seem to have any watch history function? Is that normal? Like we can't continue watching where we left off, it doesn't keep track of where in a season we are etc, every time we navigate to Dropout it's like we're a brand new user.
I've always had this kind of subtle niggling feeling in the back of my mind that Brennan's voice and general demeanor reminded me of someone but I could never quite place it. But this week I started listening to his Adventuring Academy podcast, and hearing just his voice for an extended period finally unlocked it for me.
He is, to an absolute tee, a more wholesome and well adjusted version of Sam Kinison when he's not yelling at the top of his lungs. The voice, the speech patterns, the impassioned arguing, even his eyes and mouth share a lot of similiarities.

It has one for me but it is complete shit. It seems to choose at random when to remember I have finished a video or what would be next. Everything works but not great. I would be more upset about it if it wasn't such a small company and such a great product.
Yeah Smartypants is extremely delightful, this is a good format for taking different approaches to what the joke is going to be and how the audience is going to play with that.
The confirmation that they didn't have a plan for if someone guessed the answer early is not a surprise but good to see. Yeah probably should have guessed that Sam.
I had no idea who that was and didn't think they were very funny.
Genuinely you are probably better off for not knowing more. That is basically how he does stuff. I get why they went with him since he does stick out like a sore thumb in comedy style compared to the main Dropout cast. What I don't get is why Sam thought the audience would want to watch him given how extremely different he is.

In the same way a lot of people don't necessarily like Velvet Underground or Captain Beefheart, but no one would deny how much they influenced music, I think Tim & Eric are that way for a whole subset of millennial comedian
I'm not a huge fan of Tim & Eric's Awesome Show Great Job itself, but a lot of the follow-on Adult Swim original live action stuff like their fake infomercials has a tangibly Game Changer-esque vibe
She absolutely did. Or rather she got robbed by the game. It seems like a really rookie mistake not to assume that these people wouldn't guess everyone before the end.
Honestly my bigger critique than the guest himself is that the endgame design seemed a little sloppy for the finale
But in the end I think the journey to the endgame was the real meat of the episode, and generally worth it, even if the very end is more hollow than it probably ought to have been. But hey, these are improv comics, and not necessarily game designers, so hopefully the right lessons have been learn

Hes a big comedy producer and apparently he approached them. I can see why Sam would take him up on it. Also Hank Green was busy
Ok that makes sense. Seeking him out seems weird. Accepting him for a variety of reasons including just some networking in the industry.

Like listen to this
and then listen to this
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sam was a big comedy influence on Brennan growing up, the mannerisms are extremely similar (to me anyway)
