That could very well be, but I suspect it has less to do with incestuousness than the simple fact that Western culture is still very anti-sex. I know that there's a tremendous amount of pro-sex messages in the media, but there's also a very strong "sex is dirty" undercurrent, as evidenced by the near-universal need to keep identifying details undisclosed when talking about personal sex habits.
I'd like to address this momentarily. I think you're right in terms of Western culture but I think it's more focused at nudity than sex. It seems paradoxical, but from what I have observed it's not the idea of sex that needles at society, it's nude images. So, a sex-toy store anywhere is okay and it can have all kinds of bizarre sex-toys in the window and models and dolls dressed up in lingerie, but nudity is bad. You can advertise sex-chat lines on TV and have a big marquis advertising XXX movies, but anything more than the shadow outline of a nude woman is verbotten.
Now, that beign said, I'm not sure I want to see more nudity or sex in the culture. I certainly don't think it's appropriate to be prudish about it and pretend it doesn't exist, but if it's everywhere then it becomes normalised. Personally, there's something special about sex as far as I'm concerned. I don't think it's "dirty" but I do think it should be something fuckawesome that happens behind closed doors.
In order to bring it around to the OP subject, I find that when I watch too much porn I have trouble performing on my own. It's like I get desensitised to it or something. Not to mention the fact that I have, very occasionally in the past, had trouble with real women and real bodies because the bodies in porn are so idealized.
