Spider-Man: Web of shadows

So a new Spider-Man game was announced and along with it came a little teaser trailer.
Activision announced today that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is currently in the works from Shaba Games and Treyarch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii and PC. Although it wasn't ready to say too much about the action-adventure game, Activision did tell us that Web of Shadows will be set in a free-roaming, open-ended New York that combines web slinging with customizable superpowers. There will be the traditional combo attacks on the ground, but the game will also feature a brand new emphasis on vertical combat as gamers take Spidey to the skies and duke it out with bad guys.
However, it might not just be foes who are getting socked in the jaw. According to Activision, Spider-Man's latest adventure will let players choose how they want to play -- if folks want to be the friendly neighborhood superhero, they can, but they can also ignore missions and be the anti-hero who is only looking out for himself. Marvel heroes and villains will pop up in the adventure, and gamers will have the ability to change sides as they see fit.
Activision is keeping its lips sealed about what Spider-Man is up against in the new game but we know it's a threat to the entire world and that it can do some real damage to New York. From the one screenshot and teaser trailer, it looks like Spidey's up against a number of villains who can redecorate buildings and create giant oozing black tendrils. The black gunk and the alien-looking dudes crawling on the side of the building in the teaser makes us think symbiote, but there's no way to know what's going on at this point.
After the pretty mediocre but still fun Spider-Man 3 movie game and the pretty abysmal Friend or Foe, I am very much looking forward to this game cause it seems to be doing something new with Spidey for a change.
Finally.
I'll probably love the shit out of this just because it's not based on the movies.
Though I loved the movie games too.
I'm just a whore for Spider-Man and I'll buy it even if it sucks.
Empire State looks disgusting.
Shaba Games I've never heard of, Treyarch made Spider-Man 2 (webswinging YES, combat and game NO), so.. I'll wait and see what happens.

exactly why I want more Spidey 2. I really just want a Web Swinging simulator.

I wish they'd give the job to someone other than Treyarch. They've shown several times now that they're utter shit at doing anything that doesn't involve webslinging.
I still hope for the game, I really do. They've continuously demonstrated how awesome a Spider-Man game can be, but they haven't gotten it right yet. I mean, shit, this will be their fifth Spider-Man game. Get your fucking heads together and do a good job this time.

Pretty much the same thing I thought when I heard the announcement. I'm sure that the webslinging will be fun(If they don't continue the trend of dumbing it down) but every other gameplay they have tried in the games have ranged from "meh" to godawful.
I'll no doubt buy it, just cause I'm gay for Spiderman, but I really wish they could figure out how to round out the rest of the game.
As a fan of Spider-Man 2 and to an extent 3 (on 360 anyway, the Wii port was even worse) I have some moderate interest. The web slinging will probably continue to be fun, but Treyarch really can't make anything besides the web-slinging fun. After 3 I'll definitely be renting instead of buying.

A brand new emphasis on vertical combat? Haven't they said that every single time? It seems very familiar.
And yeah, spiderman 2-alike pleases.
Well the vertical combat in the other games was "get near an enemy in the air and you wll magically transport next to him and do a normal combo."
Maybe this time Spidey does a little animation instead of just transporting next to him?

I am actually thinking about picking Spider-Man 3 on 360 up again...I really liked some stuff in that game. Other stuff pissed me off though. Maybe if I can get it for 10€ or so.
So Wii owners can probably expect another PS2 port with waggle huh? Fuck. I dunno, have the Spider Man games on the Wii used the Wiimote very well? This looks like it could be pretty cool, so I'm going to hope.

Yeah, as soon as I see a game that's being released on every platform under the sun, I try to avoid the Wii version because it's just the PS2 port with waggle.
I'd rather have a sequel to Ultimate Spider-Man. The game was fantastic story and character wise. Just input Spidey 2 web swinging and voila new good game
So how bad was Spiderman 3, anyways? I mean if I have fund with pretty mindless games and Spiderman 2 was one of my favorites ever, will I enjoy it?
If you enjoyed Spider-Man 2, chances are you'll enjoy the third one. It improves over 2 in the mission structure, i.e. no more kids losing balloons every 2 blocks. But that's practically it; it has more variety, but it doesn't fix any of the problems of the second game, such as the fucking boss battles and the camera, and adds some new problems as well, like inane QTEs.
I mean, the swinging mechanic is as good as it ever was, and it looks better, obviously. You'll probably find enjoyment in 3, but it's hard to recommend on any other basis, since they're practically the same game. Of course, you can likely find it cheap now.

alright they need to stop this GTA style spider-man game shit
the combat sucks, and there's nothing they can do about it, apparently
so they should just make a game all about webslinging
and how would they do that, do you ask
why, a spider-man racing game
if you really want combat, add in web-flinging and smashdowns to knock people to the ground. multiplayer would be the best part. basically, they should make Burnout: Webslinging.

I'm reminded of one from the first Spider-Man movie game. You could play as the Green Goblin. Whole new mechanic set, new weapons/techniques, tactics(to a degree), even a sorta new storyline. It was grand.

Shaba Games does the DS and Wii stuff I think. Or some other crappy port.

it's safe to say they're working on the shitty version.
You know, even after Spider-Man 3 and Spider Man Friend or Foe, I never stopped believing...
Maybe...maybe this is it. Maybe.
If Sonic can do it, so can Spidey!
goddammit don't say that
Spider-Man 3 was simultaneously mega-exciting and really disappointing.

Edit: They better damn well have carnage in this game, and not the wimpy one from Ultimate Spiderman. I want the bad ass one from the comics!
