Wouldn't they have to tone down the violence ALOT for it to be acceptable to DC? I mean, I doubt DC would allow Superman to be melting people with his vision as a fatality and shit like that.

By my understanding, Midway is aiming for T rating, which means no blood, and highly stylized fatalities (or no fatalities at all).

It's hard to conceive of such a tame Mortal Kombat these days..

'Course they have gimped the violence before. Back. in the snes days..

Very strange, but still not quite as strange as Yoda in Soul Calibur.

It's getting so weird with fighting games these days, what's MUGEN even good for now?

Yoda and Vader in Soul Calibur.. Batman and the rest in Mortal Kombat.. Sonic in Brawl..

If you would of said any of this 10 years ago you would of been called insane.

It seems with every passing day, this becomes more and more true.

Actually I dig the idea of a T-rated MK vs. DC with stylized fatalities. Because honestly, Fatalities were always about the shock and cool factor, and they haven't had that since MK3. Fatalities since then have been pretty lame. But a Batman "fatality" (or whatever they call it)? I would love to see that.

MK 3 had awful fatalities. Deadly Alliance brought the game back.

Anyway, a T rated Mortal Kombat isn't really a game. There's nothing left when you remove the hilarious amounts of blood and gore.

    Yes there is.

MK is the premiere fighting franchise for people who suck at ones that take a lot of skill. There is still a large audience for MK.

EDIT: Case in point, I've never had to wonder about which millisecond time-frame I had to enter a button command in at with MK.

You're the one saying there's no game beneath the gore! There obviously is, just not a very deep one. DC > gore, in my opinion.

Also, Scorpion vs. Green Lantern...uh oh!

Exaggeration, but the SNES version of MK pretty much shows what happens when you take away all the violence. Its a really, really bad game.

MK does have a cool story, setting, and characters, which makes me like it a lot more than it deserves. And 2 and V were just plain fun.

I prefer Deception to DA. In fact, the only two discs I really need are Deception and Shaolin Monks (which aside from being fun as hell also includes MKII).

Man, all my friends used to work the graveyard shift at IHOP, and when Deception came out we brought out the TV they had in the back, hooked it up and had Deception competitions nearly every weekend for cash. I was kicking ass with Jade.

Baraka was always my character of choice ever since I first played 2. It pissed me off that they added him, but removed Shang Tsung, my favourite in DA.

Also amusing is how you can do 80% damage combos in DA with Quan Chi and about 72% ones with Raiden.

I enjoyed MK Armageddon, I guess I'm not a hardcore badazz at fighting games. Sorry

But the addition of DC makes me really interested in this, I dont really care that they are switching to a T rating. Fatalities sucked in MK Armageddon so I'm used to them being gone anyway

    Hope its legit

I loved Shang Tsung's sword impale in DA. Deception would have been perfect if they had left that in. Shaolin Monks was all sorts of unexpected awesome too.

Anyways, wait... What? DC vs MK? Huh? This is krazy talk. Krazy awesome talk.

I would KILL to see my favorite DC characters face off against my favorite Capcom characters, but Mortal Kombat sucks ass, and I really really would hate to see the DC universe through it's lenses (whereas capcom-styled fighting games could even ballance supes IMO)

Why is there the WB logo on there? Something like this should only have the DC and Midway/MK logos.
And I hope to god this isn't just a simple comic-crossover.

    Warner Bros. owns DC.

    Mad Magazine, too.

AOL Time Warner owns quite a bit, actually.

Anyway, if real, I want Batman Beyond and Mary Marvel in there.

    Speaking of fatalities..

Batman's needs to be that thing he always did in the animated series where he the criminal would like fall to the floor. Then Batman would just walk into the camera and it would fade to black.

They're just gonna call em "knockout blows" or something?

And while I'm thinking DC heroes, why wouldn't there be DC Villains, too? Goro vs Gorilla Grodd would be fun to watch. As would Shang Tsung vs The Joker. For whatever reason, I'm imagining The Joker plays like Baraka.

    Powersuit Luthor vs Raiden

    Liu Kang vs Darkseid

I really have no clue how to even begin IMAGINING what this is going to look and play like. Not even the slightest. I hope it's a lot more fluid than most MK games are. I'm skeptical initially, because this feels to me like the time I was told, way back in the mid nineties "So yeah, Star Wars is getting a fighting game, and they're basing it on Tekken." and I got all excited because Star Wars + Fighting Game sounded like THE BALLS at the time.

    Johnny Cage vs Booster Gold

    Mileena vs R'as Al Ghul

    Quan Chi vs The Penguin

...yeah, this doesn't make any fuckin sense. Wow. Weird

    Kabal vs The Question

I'm wondering how many of the DC guys are just gonna be palette swaps/clones of MK fighters. Batman's basically a ninja already. I'm betting Superman's moveset is going to be based on Raiden's. Johnny Cage/Booster Gold. Kung Lao/Green Arrow.

    Two legitimate requests:

    1. HIRE ACTUAL CHARACTER MODELERS.

Midway cannot break the habit of having characters having huge and or stupid looking anatomically incorrect characters. If Batman looks like a malformed retard with downs I'm gonna snap.

    2. DITCH THE OLD MK FIGHTING MECHANICS

Seriously. I loved 1992 too but this shit is killing me.
