WARHAMMER ONLINE: AGE OF RECKONING
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKOhzfkCdbY
That should be all we need in way of introduction, at this point.
Penny Arcade currently has two active guilds:Candymancers on Order, a nascent pack of Sigmar-fondlers, pretenders to the Phoenix Crown, and stunties.
The Six Mouths on Destruction, a useless
mob of ne'er-do-wells and vile miscreants.
For those interested in playing, important dates are:
- September 6th: Preview Weekend+ A head start for those in the last one for Open Beta
- September 7th: Open Beta begins. This will be available to all preorders.
- September 14th or 15th: Headstart begins for preorder customers. CE preorders will likely be a day or so earlier.
- September 18th: WAR is released.
BOTH THE SIX MOUTHS AND CANDYMANCERS WILL BE PLAYING ON TODBRINGER FOR PW+ AND OB

I played the Witch Hunter first because I knew it was the 'mirror' class of the Witch Elf. I wanted something roguey but was kinda hesitant to try the WE because, well... the whole scantily-clad female elf thing mainly. Anyhow, I found the Witch Hunter pretty lame overall. I'm sure the abilities get better with some levels, but I didn't much care for the look of him (he looked pretty uhh...flamboyant the way he held his gun), plus the whole atmosphere of the Empire starting area was not really speaking to me.
Strangely enough, when I finally did try the Witch Elf, I was able to look past the whole 'scantily-clad elf' thing for the most part, just because I was doing so much fast-paced killin'. But even as much as I liked the WE, I went on to try the Goblin Shaman and oh god. I may have found my main.
Yeah I share this concern. I mean, even looking at WoW, if you start a level 1 character nowadays, the noob areas are pretty barren, save for those times when some major server cluster is down and everyone rolls random noobs on whatever the low-pop server is at the time.
In WAR, I see the possibility of the same thing happening, only it might be worse because all those PQs will be impossible to do, and how will any Tier 1 keeps get taken if no one is fighting for them?
I think right now everyone's avoiding the PQs to get the last bit of RvR in before the preview weekend ends. I know the wait times for scenarios was insane... click the button, get in instantly.
As for months down the road, I'm betting there will be a way to scale them down some for the number of players involved.

I can see alts and new players jumping on board carrying things pretty far, but I do hope Mythic has a backup plan for a year or two down the line.
Even the tier 2 open battlefields, which would more than anything be the most populated stuff, was pretty barren most of today.
Oh and my block got the 10/6 armor...what a difference. A little bit after I bought it three dwarves attacked me, a runepriest and two engineers. They were all level 8 I think, they hardly even hurt me I was maybe missing 1/3 of my HP after they were all dead. Oh and the White Lion is broke pretty bad right now, the pet is almost useless because the AI is so bad.
Decry I say.
I hope I can play this on the US servers at a decent ping.
Honestly, I had just as much fun when I started getting tired, and just gave up on leveling and decided to see what stuff I could find. Like a random pile of books, behind a bush, a mile off the road. Who else is going to find that?
It wasn't until this evening when I was playing my Shaman that I saw a Public Quest come up but not be active at all. I'd get the little notification that I was in a PQ area but not what I was supposed to kill. I just thought it was bugged because when I later found a Chapter 3 PQ, that thing was bugged to hell with Shaman spells going non-stop (including my own). I don't know if they managed to complete it as I logged out, but the timer was swiftly draining while the last guy we needed to kill kept inexplicably becoming 'non-attackable' and then running up a hillside, only to return a few seconds later to be attacked, and repeating the process. Over and over again.
Y'now, that's fair. That was lazy and repetitive.
There are more than a few Mouths playing cross-continents thus far and I haven't heard many complaints.
Pretty much universal. I haven't dug around the beta forums to see if it's addressed.
liek mayb uve found the ashbrnga lol rofl
That was painful to read. Like literally reading that caused my brain to hurt trying to decipher it.
lolwhut?
It'd be kind of awkward if I ended up playing an Order alt and I had to fight my buddies in the Six Mouths.

So my random ass suggestion of Tiefe Krahen actually became the order guild name?
Hot damn! That was unexpected.
We will be on separate servers, but *not* encouraging alts to fill up the roster of the other.
We put it to a vote and it just barely beat out the Candymancers. Congrats! You get... uh... shadowgrey dye.
Behold, obsession.
e: basically it's some sword in WoW that people have gone into agonizing detail to try and uncover. Like for example examining cart tracks.
Makes me wonder if they finally realized that Order pwns face in Nordwatch.
I like that renown rank 2 and 4 gear is finally in.
I still got raped pretty hard in my 10/6 gear, but my damage output went through the roof. My Ballistic skill was sitting somewhere around 350, so my bow attacks were really tearing people apart.
The second scenario I did, though, I think was almost all DoKs. I was doing a lot of damage, but they were healing all of it. I was top of the damage chart for the scenario (somewhere just over 30,000 total damage), but man... couldn't take anyone down completely.

Which is not actually grey at all.
I mean really, talk about misleading.
It's true. I'm used to shadowgrey being a bluish color (from the paints) but then they go and make other colors not look like the paints at all, but another color altogether. I am disappointed with the color selection, and demand a full suit of Bad Moon Yellow.

They took it down because there was a crash bug in Nordenwatch.

I love Gates of Ekrund so much. I think I'm going to end up playing a zealot as main first since TSM will have 50 million shaman. First thing I'm going to do is find some greenskin to group queue me for Gates instead of Nordenwatch.
Same, I created like 6 different characters just to get a feel for each class. I'm 95% certain I'll be going with Chosen as my main when it goes live, still need to try out the sorcerer and magus though...
I tried Witch Hunter, who was decent but something just felt off, Ironbreaker, who was like a toned down Black Orc whose moves lacked the oomph of Blorc animations, and the Shadow Warrior, which was fun I guess but I just can't feel the ranged combat.
This is pretty much the opposite of me in WoW, I detested tanks and loved ranged DPS
Yeah games workshop loves to do this shit. Scab red? Totally pink/purple.
At least they're being realistic. My brother painted some models light blue and couldn't find out what color he had painted them with. He never suspected the shadow grey.
We can only hope that WAR will have enough subscribers and alt makers to keep it going.
Probably a good idea to have the character on that server anyway, in case I decide I like Order more, eh?

I have to agree here, my Black Orc is so much fun. And what other class lets you kick people in the jibblies?
None.
Same here. I found it far more fun than Nordenwatch and the Elf scenarios. Mainly because its all so close together you're either constantly in combat or trying to sneak around and cap the flags.
I've tried reseting my mutations multiple times, as well as logging out and back in. Nothing works. Anyone else having this issue?
That's a shame. I like hearing the reaction of noobs getting blown up by Khaine's Wrath.
