so i'm trying to get the weapon achievements... and am currently on the sprint up to everyone and shotgun em in the face part.

My problem is that my teammates are too useful... possibly because they both have geth assault rifles and i'm never sure if i get the kill or not

Equip them with crappy sniper rifles and make them use them.

Just give them the level 1's, or the shittiest guns you can find.

Other than that, it's order them to stand somewhere where they can't see the enemy.

    Ok, what the fuck BioWare

I mean, it was expertly written, but the little sidejob thing I just did where I went to the monkey planet and found the Prothean artifact just screams "I need to be a cutscene and not just text."

I hope to God there are more sidequests, and better fleshed out this time around in ME2.

Yeah, they really kinda fucked up on the sidequests.

And the Prothean Sphere that details their observation of humanity's infancy, that should've been a cutscene as well.

Instead of "As you pass out, you see a vision of blah blah blah, then you wake up".

That was too big of a deal not to have been a cutscene, and god damnit, an in engine no HUD, just you controlling the neanderthal without being able to "control him", with the shit playing out, it would be EPIC.

I thought the way they did that one was because they ran out of DVD-disk space.

I believe someone actually clocked ME at about 6.8G. And since the average 360 DVD holds 9 gigs...I don't think so.

They probably did it because making it into a cutscene would be a crapton of work.

Except for the multi-disk JRPGs(which may be due in part to FMVs/poor compression), not really.

Then it is possible they just didn't have the space on the disc for the artifact cutscene. Though, more likely, they just ran out of time/resources and decided that a cutscene for an object that has a possibility of not being used, or even found in the first place, wasn't critical.

I'm playing through on Casual now, and seem to be getting just as much exp as I did on Insanity. I'm also one shotting almost everything with my explosive sniper rifle shotgun, so it looks like the person who mentioned that idea above was correct.

A BioWare employee on this forum said it was because they didn't have the time or money, so they just made it a very short story instead.

I hope the elevators are fixed in ME2. Standing still for like 20 seconds is crap. You should be able to talk to your team, use a yo-yo, dance, anything other than standing doing nothing.

Also, is there a way to kill both Kaiden and Space Hitler on Vimire? I haven't reached that part of the game yet (doing side quests) but I'd really like to kill them both.

It's a compulsory binary choice. One or the other.

Also, I'm pretty sure they got around the elevators in some way. For one, the PC didn't need them at all, and the animation was still there. A hard load would've loaded in seconds, as opposed to the super near-minute elevators.

Did the 360 have the bug where you go into an elevator, activate it, and nothing happens - leaving you stuck in "standing in elevator" mode but the elevator isn't going anywhere? I got burned by that once, and got into the habit of quicksaving before going into any elevator.

Happens on the PC as well.

Happened to me once or twice. Definitely once. I remember raging quite a bit, having to do Feros all over from the start.

I had the opposite - one part where you step into an elevator, the elevator wasn't actually there and I got stuck with a foot high wall in front of me. Shepard is a super soldier but can't pull himself up a knee high incline apparently.

I wonder, if Penny Arcade hadn't made a comic about this, if it would've be regarded as such a big deal?

The elevators were (and still are) bad, you've just gotten used to them. Pistols are the best. Ashley is Space Hitler and, as such, should die in nuclear fire. Every time. Besides, sex with a Human is so pre-First Contact War. Wrex should never be shot in the face under any circumstances. The Mako doesn't control like shit, you just suck at games and are doing it wrong. And lastly, Shepard isn't dead, because ME2 would suck if that's the case.

Not aimed at anyone in particular. Just all of you. :D

End of thread til the GDC.

Eh, it seems like they're using it correctly. They're talking about level design. From what I understand of the development of the original, it seems like an on-topic discussion. They had all kinds of great areas that weren't usable due to the AI and pathing issues, apparently. Maybe they had some kind of a breakthrough they feel other developers can benefit from?

If so, they've picked an excellent year to return to the gaudy excess of the old versions of E3... I know it's what they want to do. But then, I guess they had to learn a lesson the hard way that the general media isn't interested in understated gatherings. Want free press? Booth babes, flashing lights, and free junk. Why do you think CES gets any attention?

I think what they should do is open it more to the public, weren't they throwing around opening it back up to non-press? That would help a ton I think since the viral effect of what people saw is gonna spread around the internet. Instead of reading about stuff, people could actually see it.

The old E3 was practically open to the public anyway. It really wasn't too difficult to get show passes. And even then, there was a kind of massive orgasm about how awesome the show was (babes, lights, free shit) that more and more of the general public wanted to show up. The viral effect can still continue without that level of ostentatious display since all it requires is a well-informed fanbase getting the message out. It doesn't really require hands-on, first person experience anymore.
