I'm scared of what you guys expect in your games. I haven't seen GoT but now I'm not sure I ever want to... :shudder:

So, can someone sell me on the Grid game(s)? I am not a racing enthusiast by any meter or stretch, but anything else that I might find amazing and entertaining in either game?

Once I get the answer to that, A Birthday Giftaway will be incoming . . .

    You ever play Dirt?

What if you could do that, but on roads.

The last racing game that I played with actual cars was Cruisin' USA on the N64.

The last racing game I played beyond that was Mario Kart 64.

You should give Race the Sun a spin. Great racing game.

Doesn't it have a ridiculously high difficulty?

Not at all. Sure I've barely ever gotten past the fourth world (not counting when I've found a warpgate) but it's a great racer that's different every day. Totally relaxing, fun, challenging, and really does a good job of evoking feelings of flight and speed.

Plus my little boy loves "playing" it with me.

And the "fly" is actually a jump and a glide down so most of the movement is really just side to side. The jump is more of an ejector seat

One of the best things about Race the Sun (and there are many best things) are the sound effects. It's kind of a muted, low key game, but if you have a subwoofer the rotating blocks that usually show up in World 2 hit the ground with this earth-shaking boom of bass as you streak by them.

That's pretty awesome. I actually haven't experienced that because I've usually played it on mute at work :)

    Dear car,
You're the worst. It turns out that I need airbags to feel safe, I don't have the money for a new car, and you're too old and (now) unreliable to warrant spending lots of money on repairs.
    Lots of hate,

Thank you so much to @HyphyKezzy for The Marvelous Miss Take! Even though I am pretty awful at stealth games (as anyone who has played Monaco with me is well aware), this went right on my wishlist because I just adore the style of this game. I may not be a great thief, but I will look great while theif-ing! <3

They have cut out at least 1 rape....which was actually a gangrape and rather tangential to the plot and served no redeeming value.

I heard they've added some rape, too, making at least one sex scene that was consensual in the books not consensual in the show.

this does not sound like a show I would be interested in. Sex, Meh. Dicks and Boobs, Meh. Rape, Nope! Although I don't seek out sex, dicks, or boobs in my tv/ movie experience either.

Video never can stay true to books. People try, but I can't think of a single instance where they've stayed completely true to the book. (speaking of all things, not just GoT)

I kinda felt that was tighter in execution compared to the book. Specifically having a greater ....scale and an easily identifiable schill compared to the book. I mean, I could see both working with the evidence right there, but the movie seemed to be tighter.

The mood of a lot of scenes felt a bit off due to choices in cinematography, but yes, the ending was the most egregious deviation.

I think it was the best Watchmen film we're going to get, but I don't myself especially wanting to ever watch it again.

I much preferred the film ending; honestly I much preferred the film to the source material. But then that's just personal bias talking.

Then read the books. They're great reads, and you can skim over the dirty stuff if you want (it's very sparse in some very long books, much less intrusive than I'm sure the TV show is making it).

The change to the ending of the film undermined the entire point of the plan.
The extraterrestrial threat was very specifically an outside agent that had no ties to either the United States or the Soviet Union.

Dr. Manhattan is very much not a neutral actor, and in fact it would be quite easy for the Soviets to claim that Dr. M's hits on the US and its allies are just part of a false-flag op to throw the scent off.

And thus, the end of the movie, which is the same as the book, where maybe it all gets published and blahblahblah content was cut because holy shit that whole making a psychic squid would really be fucking boring and why the hell didn't they put in that shitty ass black freighter garbage and fuck this bullshit argument for a bag of cats.

Really enjoying Ardenne's Assault. Last two missions I need to do are the one pictured (which is kinda a slow grind through enemy positions) and that mission. You know, that one. The mandatory 'stealth' mission they put in every single fucking RTS as if it works and isn't just annoying as shit.

My short hand review is that if you like single player strategy you should definitely own it. Though it's probably worth waiting on a sale.

Lemme tell you, if it weren't for the skin unlocks and stuff you get for finishing I would do literally every single fucking mission but that one and call the game done.

Because seriously. Stop it RTS devs. They're like the escort missions of RTS games. No one has ever looked at the entire array of tanks, men with guns and men with bigger guns that make up their forces and gone 'but gee, wouldn't it be fun if I had to carefully micro every single one of these to make sure I don't bring down the magical wrath of missions scripting on my face'. No one ever. If they say they like the stealth missions then they're spies designed to suck the fun out of video games.

I don't know, I really enjoyed the one in Red Alert 3. Conscript and bear against the world!

(Given it lasts all of 5 minutes and you only have to control 1 unit then immediately switches back to RTS fun times)

I hate stealth missions in an RTS. I also hate "You start with X units and can't make any more" missions in an RTS as well.

See, I am terrible at RTS games and tend to turtle my ass off as a result. I don't play "Command and Conquer" or "Warcraft II", I play "Sim Base" until I'm covering half of the map and am forced into fighting the enemy because I have run out of areas to mine resources.

Had anybody played Craft the World? I've always been interested in this type of game, but haven't really jumped into one before. I played Minecraft a bit, but that lost its appeal pretty quickly, and always thought Terreria looked a little more fun. Craft the World looks like a better looking and more whimsical version of that. Also, is there any reason to be wary of its early access status?

Activision is so frustrating. It would seem that even on gog they don't like to put their stuff on deep discount. I know 50% off is good - but at 75% or 80% off I could rebuy my entire childhood and teenage years :)
