In my experience, most of undergrad education is learning about vaginas of some sort.

i thought you were comp sci?
I had it as a double major for my first two years of undergrad. I dropped it, in favor of my other major, which was heavy into biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, etc.

But not all education comes from the classroom.

In America, you can be anything, as long as it's IT, compsci, or engineering
Or medical, or legal, or educational or financial etc etc And those are just the good areas

If you get an education and are willing to do a job that actually is in demand (some combination of necessary and difficult) you can make a good living. Or you can do one or the other and just get by. Or if you can't or won't do either, you have to hope you can find a situation where someone else supports your lifestyle/situation.

I have a lot more sympathy for people who can't get an education because of a shitty economic situation or who can't work due to a health (mental or physical) problem than people just check off none of the above and wonder what went wrong.

I went to a pompeii exhibit and they had an oil lamp that was shaped like a vagina,

but the clit was a swan's head

    it was incredible

    this is kinda mean bro

the crippling debt is at least part because tuition is crazy expensive for, i think, basically no reason?

college costs way more than it did 75 years ago, because ??? (one answer is because there's no market forces driving it down because students are not responsible stewards of thousands of dollars in student loan money at the age of 18, and maybe something around inelastic demand)

so the crippling debt is not because not enough course funding!

and man i didn't read spoolster as complaining and also shouldn't we laud someone supporting their kid even if their kid wants to do something that's not what they want their kid to do?
college costs aren't even for professors or meaningful facilities
they are for golden parachute 500+k presidents and the 10 vice presidents and the administrators
they run a college into the ground and capitalize on it and go to another one and do this over and over
Not really. If you want to focus on unnecessary college costs, its marketing and amenities. Freshman dorm rooms are still largely shit but that's because they'd be trashed in a semester anyway. And university campuses have ridiculous amenities that draw students in, but then have to be paid for. And then when the kids graduate and have to effectively live within their means lifestyle wise they feel poor and underemployed. Administrator costs aren't even a big part of it once you eliminate de facto marketing departments

There are lots of little reasons but the main reason tuition is more expensive these days is the government spends less on higher education. Especially in science funding.

you can tell that youth doesn't deserve a living wage because of his backwards cap and sunglasses and the rap music he is probably listening to

I bet it's going to make a buncha anthro majors upset though.

Coming out of school with no better prospect than a fry cook and 50k in debt makes for some vicious class warfare.

It is one of the inherent risks of those degrees though.

But I am not really sure how this is an argument against it, considering if they had to work fast food after graduating in order to pay the bills it would be good if that was a living wage.

oh, it's not. It's an argument against paying ferderal money for people to get an anthro degree.

are you raising people with anthropology degrees as an example of "people who shouldn't get funded with taxpayer dollars to study this because it's not useful" or...

It's fun low-hanging fruit because of the thing where JEB's daughter got one while he was gov of Florida and they had literally had no job openings for anything in the field, at all, in the whole state.

Anthro is useful... just probably not in proportion to the number of people who study it.

I think I have figured out why things keep going wrong in this apartment.

My roommate doesn't listen to me/is a yutz.

I told him that no, it was a terrible idea to put his compost bin by the front door outside (also the apartment compost bin is about two yards away ANYWAY).

This afternoon I go out and find that not only has he done this anyway, but he has also left the front door open.

He also does not listen when I explain to him that closing your window when taking a shower is a stupid idea even on a hot day I don't fucking care.

No it's my idea I get to decide.

sorry "science", you're gone. We're only funding Chicago school economics and "liberty studies".

Chicago school is what economics would look like if it was conducted by Martian AIs.

"Given that all programmatically rational participants of the economy, which you call 'humans,' instantly share pricing information via the quantum subnet, and perfectly competitive markets have been developed by optimal social and government structures, the price of what you call 'dollars' for what you call 'food' will reach a market clearing amount. This economy on what you call Earth is quite similar to our own planet."

Actually, this gives me an idea. I wonder if there is a market for sarcastically written intro to economics textbooks...
