.... Although speaking of dentist conventions, literally the worst people we ever hosted at the hotel were there for a dentist convention at the wscc. Holy shit dental hygienists, the most awful sloppiest drunks it turns out. Just terrible human beings!
the feedback we get from rank-and-file WSCC staff (as well as the POC people show management deal with) has always been overwhelmingly positive
it's the upper WSCC management that has a hate-on for us
especially compared the the venue management of every other place PAX exhibits where they fight to give PAX the best blowjob so it comes to their town
If there is a legitimate concern about the WSCC trying to edge PAX out of the convention center for nebulous reasons, then the people in charge of PAX need to start looking lobbying the elected officials who have the WSCC upper-management's ear.
Work is saying we have to decide on alternate health insurance plans now. Some of the alternatives have the copays be "CYD + 20%" instead of something flat like $20 before. What the hell is that?

One day we will have a video game museum that actually documents the growth of the medium as a respectable art form. Probably not for a while.
I want PAX East to move from Boston to DC after they finish their rather meh contract up there.
We have a huge convention center.
Kind of functioning public transit.
Use to giant fucking crowds. 500k rallies happen once or twice a year sometimes. Other times we get Popes. So 80k nerds is nothing.
Oh and I can stay at my place and relax on my way in and out.
Please, if PAX East should move anywhere it's to Orlando
OCCC can support like, 500K attendees if they wanted to grow that big, and it's all in 4 easily partitioned segments. It's Orlando in early March, so tons and tons of cheap hotels and it's not super hot yet.
Plus Mike and Jerry could go to Disney World every year after the convention

i remember the first and i think only episode of Hoarders I watched a woman had all these rotten pumpkins. and they were like ok can we throw these out? and the mom goes no no no no the seeds are still good! and she is digging out the seeds
i think pumpkin seeds cost maybe 50 cents for a bag. plus she didn't even have a garden.

Perhaps, maybe Khoo got them by the short hairs on the deal. There are a lot of contracts signed near the recession that companies wish they were out of now that there is a much wider competitive field, and PAX may be one of those contracts where they aren't making very much money on the ordeal, and that period of time is something where they've missed lower impact conventions that pay better.
Just because we are a very polite and low volatility bunch, does not mean we are necessarily low impact for them. It probably costs a lot of money to have us, and Khoo is a savvy businessman.
