County finished like thirty points ahead of everyone else except Wrexham and ended up in the playoffs because of the bullshit rule about just one automatic promotion place for their league and then today went behind 2-0 in the first playoff. Equalised in the 96th minute of normal time and then won it in minute 120.
Ah yes, relegation fodder Everton with a whopping 27% possession, up *checks notes* 3-0 at halftime on the road over Brighton, totally expected, very normal
Is Iwobi et al. actually good on the counter or is this some fluke shit out of Everton?
brighton only left one man back on set pieces and got overwhelmed a couple of times
one of the goals is a pretty bad own goal and arguably the goalie should have done better on another but brighton gave everton chances when they really shouldn't have
And, this is from a week ago but I can't stop thinking about it, Toulouse win the Coupe de France. Toulouse are thirteenth in the standings right now! Apparently it's their first major piece of silverware?
Even when PSG have Messi, they can't win the domestic double.

I'm torn - on the one hand Everton fans have always been weirdly entitled and its been very funny watching them tear through high-quality managers on their seasons long descent to the bottom of the table
On the other I like Sean Dyche and several of their players and have an eternal soft spot for teams playing old school, rugged four four (fucking) two

With Everton and Forest putting a wee bit of daylight between themselves and the drop, Leeds and Southampton are looking proper fucked, and Leicester are just mostly fucked.
I'll be visiting home at the end of the season, my aul fella is gonna be like a briar.

Good gravy, the absolute clown shoes refereeing in tonight’s Miami v. New England match resulted in the very rare three yellow card booking for Miami’s David Ruiz. Referee gave Ruiz’s second yellow to the wrong player, and then Ruiz went and earned himself a third before the referee acknowledged his error.
With top notch officiating like this, it’s a wonder the rest of the world doesn’t take us seriously.
It's been an eventful weekend, including three trophies awarded, but the thread title is staying intact because it's still true.
I know nobody comes to this thread for news, they come here to talk about their team on game days, but it feels weird to not acknowledge the big things that are happening in the sport. Below, in spoiler tags, are a bunch of inlined tweets. So, uh, if y'all want me to stop doing this, please say so.
AEK Athens win the Greek Super League? (All I can find for a good source is the official standings, and it appears that the Greek season is done? And AEK Athens are top of the table.) https://www.slgr.gr/en/scoreboard/
I lived just found the corner from Oxford City; bit surreal to see them hit the national league.
Oxford United are having all sorts of fun with their stadium; they don’t own their (3sided) stadium and so are looking to move but I find it rather odd that there could be this big building that won’t be of any use.
I dunno. After the palace game myself and many Arsenal fans where optimistic but realistic. Arsenal had a very tough run in including a couple of away games that Arsenal never usually win and Man city are famous for having fantastic end of season runs. Not only that but the small squad was begining to catch up with them with their two best defenders injured for the rest of the season. To be fair Arteta know this was going to be a problem and tried to buy in Jan but that didn't work out.
With 10 games left, Arsenal needed to win every game to win the title and that is a bit much. Not really a bottle if you need to maintain a perfect record against a side with infinite money to win the thing. Now if Arsenal were 8 points clear with three games to go, that's a bottle. But being five points clear with ten games left and the side in second having a game and hand and in the middle of an ongoing 15ish game winning streak, not really a bottle.
This season has been a rollercoaster and the fact that Arsenal took the gave the infinite money cheat code team a scare when every other team just melted away shows just how good they are.

i think its entirely fair to call it a bottle if you're one of the only teams ever to drop a two goal lead in two consecutive matches and then drop points to the team bottom of the table
southampton have 1 point from their last 24 available and that's against arsenal
Breaking, huge news for United States. Arsenal star Folarin Balogun has finally decided to represent USMNT — he will switch allegiance to USA. 🚨🔴🇺🇸 #USMNT
Balogun took his time but the decision has been made. No England; he will represent USA. Official soon.

Peterborough might have fucked it more than any time I’ve ever seen in my life
4-0 up in the first playoff leg, 4-4 by the end of the second leg (with the last goal coming in the 97th minute), 5-5 after extra time (where Wednesday scored an own goal) and then just went out on penalties

However, they did it in a 4-2 win against cross-town rivals Espanyol, who are firmly in the relegation zone with 31 points so far, four below safety. After the match, Espanyol fans invaded the pitch and attacked Barça players:
