That was a really tough match and we did way better than I thought going in but still man 85th minute goal I had started to believe we could do it.
I was legitimately surprised at how good Seattle looked in the second half. One bad pass let LA pounce, but honestly Seattle was in the same boat as Atlanta in the playoffs, playing with house money.
Now we get the worst final possible, Red Bulls and Galaxy.

That result left me with some seriously conflicted feelings.
Was there not some way both Liverpool and City could have lost?

Has anyone already done the math on how many managers United would have to fire this season to keep the new manager bounce going all the way to the end?

I never really got rivalry before Auckland joined the A-League. I mean, logically, I did, but I never really emotionally got it. I thought I did, I thought I felt competitiveness and frustration and elation and all the things that went along with it.
But it was all illusion. Nothing prepared me for the deep need inside of you to assert your teams dominance over a fierce and instant rival. The immediate contention, the instant grievance, the true depths of want inside you that you can only will on by shouting at 22 men on a pitch you're not part of.
Auckland FC, in their first season, are flying high. They are the form team of the competition, one of only 2 unbeaten teams and the only one with a perfect winning record. They have just set a new Australian record for the longest start to the season without conceding a goal. And in their first 6 games, they've managed to be the only team to beat their NZ rivals, the otherwise formidable Wellington Phoenix - twice.
But what really makes it petty, what really gets my craw, is that the first derby, the one in Wellington, set an NZ record for the highest attended regular season match at 26,252.
Which stood for one month, until the second derby in Auckland, which beat that record today. By one.
They had 26,253.
How fucking petty is that? How did they even do that?
How can you possibly contrive to set a new crowd attendance record and beat the old one, set a month before at your opponents home ground, by one person? What the fuck is that shit?
We broke their clean sheet in the 82nd minute. First team to score against them. Still went down in a 2-1 loss.
Having a second professional team is good for NZ football, and there's some fucking fantastic players putting their hands up for inclusion in the national squad in the run up to the next world cup.
But damn if I still can't think about that one extra person who walked through the gates in Auckland.
HerrCron that seems pretty evergreen at this point
I mean, that's also true.
Still, I wonder if they're gonna get rid of big Ange, or stay the course.
My Spurs mate says not yet, but he's lost some of the fans. I imagine the emotional rollercoaster of hammering City one week and then losing dismally to Bournemouth is too much for some of them.

FIFA gave countries a month to express interest and specifically changed the rule that required proper infrastructure. Surprisingly, nobody else was interested. FIFA also insists that awarding the tournament will have a potential to act as a catalyst for future reforms within KSA.
And, in other news, FIFA has pulled the other one. It had bells on.
Saudi Arabia has yet to build 11 out of the 15 stadiums; I'm genuinely curious if they all get built, considering the concept art looks like all the other mega projects SA have proposed over the years, like The Line, which have been downscaled or quietly cancelled (it all seems a grift to try get investment, and this is just the next step).
I dunno; this, as well as other things like trying to make the club world cup a thing, has made me pretty despondent about football in general, in addition to the other sports washing going on.
The line was supposed to be 170 Km long, and now it’s going to be 1.5 miles and even then I’m skeptical it gets built.
Just as well they displaced all those tribes; don’t think too hard with regards to what happened to those who made a fuss or tried to stop it.
Again it all seems a grift to try get “investment” for these mega projects going (Saudis Arabia certainly like their sci-fi book covers), but people don’t seem to be buying into this stuff anymore. Like the hotels in mountains or the port in the sea.
So it’s Stadiums which I guess people think is more believable as it’s tied to the World Cup.
2026 World Cup qualifying draw for European teams. Some Nations League bullshit means we don't quite know who is going to be in every group until the NL semis.
Group A: Germany v Italy winner, Slovakia, N. Ireland, Luxembourg.
Group B: Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Kosovo.
Group C: Portugal v Denmark loser, Greece, Scotland, Belarus.
Group D : France v Croatia winner, Ukraine, Iceland, Azerbaijan.
Group E: Spain v Netherlands winner, Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria.
Group F: Portugal v Denmark winner, Hungary, Rep of Ire, Armenia.
Group G: Spain v Netherlands loser, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Malta.
Group H: Austria, Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cyprus, San Marino.
Group I: Germany v Italy loser, Norway, Israel, Estonia, Moldova.
Group J: Belgium, Wales, North Macedonia, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein.
Group K: England, Serbia, Albania, Latvia, Andorra.
Group L: France v Croatia loser, Czechia, Montenegro, Faroe Is, Gibraltar.
Folks, I'm starting to get the feeling that football/soccer isn't for the people any more.
As a (for now, probably not renewing for 2025) NE Revs season ticket holder (pause for laughter, especially after the debacle that was this past season), I was treated to this very special offer for the 2026 World Cup on behalf of FIFA and Gillette Stadium!
The New England Club Field Lounge Package
Access to all 7 matches - Including Round of 32 and coveted Quarterfinal match
o Three (3) hours of pregame hospitality, two (2) hours postgame at field-level lounge
o Lower-level midfield seats in premium sections 108 – 111
o One (1) seat per two packages at Boston 26 Soccer Ball Gala
o 2025 New England Revolution Premium Home Game Experience including merchandise gift bag and field visit for one match
o FIFA World Cup Boston 26 scarf and hat per attendee
o Parking included
Per Seat Pricing Starts at $29,700
That's a new car! Or significant construction work (one of: new half-bathroom, kitchen remodel, solar panels) on a house! Granted, that's for 7 games, but still, if you break that down, you're still looking at over $4k per seat match as a starting point.
HerrCronIt that wickedly supports taxationRegistered Userregular
I mean, that's clearly a luxury package for people with more money than sense.
It's not like getting to see a single WC game is gonna be 4k a go, especially in the group stages.

the thing is even though people shit on the MLS, it's still a massive league with a (now) international audience and teams are going to pull this shit
local football is still for the people
my season ticket to my local irish team is 400 for the year and people are complaining because one game isn't included and costs an extra 25 euro, i've got buddies going to USL games where the season ticket is half of that

It's also a US sports vs. other countries. US owners aren't going to give the fans a break if they can squeeze another dollar out of them unlike some teams in Europe that know they can't do that. Case in point, your example.

Yup. I'll still watch, just because. But still. Orlando is supposed to be our rival, but I haaaaaaaaate Red Bulls. And both LA teams just annoy me.
Edit: one of our goals is to come to Seattle for a match, so I hope Atlanta travels there next year.
City can't sack him or he'll turn informant.
