A friend of mine was in the same boat as you. He forced himself to beat SSE on easy and absolutely HATES SSE because of it.
Well, he could have done a whole shitton of brawls.
In other unlockable oddities, it seems that Sonic has four methods of being unlocked, either that or one of the gamefaqs ways is wrong.
Beat the classic mode ten times
Find him in SSE.
300 vs matches.
Randomly. Two of my friends got him right after getting snake in versus matches, and they've only played 130 matches or so without meeting any of the other conditions. Some people think it is distance run.
In the Game & Watch games, the only sounds are beeps. Since there was nothing which you could really call music per se, we used the sound as a base and created the music with it.
And it turned out kind of...dark. Cool.
It reminds me of being in some underground bar, sitting next to an overdressed man who is wafting his cigarette smoke through the air, the pinched corners of his mouth evidence enough that he is plotting something full of intrigue.
...Well, those are just my idle thoughts.
That guy is just really cool. If only I had a friggin' Wii so I could buy his game.

Holy shit this game is amazing. Girlfriend just got it today and we both played for 6 hours straight.

Good games, Fig and Imperious. I must admit the lag was messing with my A game a bit especially with the quicker characters I play. Still, it was loads of fun. I'll be on again tomorrow to do some more damage.
Also, why doesn't the old hold A to make Zelda into Sheik at the start of a round not work anymore? At least it doesn't work for me.

You can pick her on the character select screen now by clicking on her profile picture. No more need for holding A. Though you do need to hold R to get Zero Suit Samus at the start of a match.
Also, I really don't like the word "main" when referring to a character you use primarily. I don't know why, it just reminds me of Smashboards. No other fighting game uses the term "main" to my knowledge. It just bugs me, especially when people "main" 5 or 6 different characters. Can't we come up with a better term for that?

Haven't checked the former, but it seems more events are unlocked as more characters are unlocked. Either play through SSE or do a bunch of VS matches to get the ones past 20.

It lags with everybody. But it's easier to mess up the timing of a faster character than a slower character. Plus, getting hit by a smash attack from a fast character isn't always that punishing, while a slow character with a lot of start up to their smashes are often punishing when they connect. Since it's harder to react with lag abound, it's easier to fuck up and get hit. I've killed/been killed by Ike's F-smash at really low %s before when I should never have connected/been hit by it.

Everyone begs and begs and begs nintendo for another metroid game on a console. Yet when they include a full blown metroid level in brawl, people bitch.
I'm seriously baffled at the number of people who hate the SSE. I think it's magnificent. It's essentially every nintendo game rolled into one.
It's repetitive as hell. It starts off very strong, but for every interesting fight there's about 20 screens of the same stupid and boring enemies I've been fighting for hours.
I'm still working on it, but I really don't care anymore. At this point I'm just donig it because I don't want to leave it unfinished and It's going to help me unlock all the characters. I would have much preferred if it were a much more densely packed 2-3 hours, as opposed to over 8 hours. It's a bit much.

Oh, I don't hate it. SSE is incredible and awesome. Except the maze. The maze is a fucking piece of shit added in only as filler. It sucks and is horrible. It's a waste and shouldn't have been put in.

Same with me. I seriously am not able to main anyone because there are so many characters I love playing.
Guess I'll stick with Random.
