Yes, please spend a Void point so that I do not die an ignoble death this early in the campaign. Just how much damage does that do exactly? It's been a while since I've played.

This wouldn't kill you outright...but its ugly. So the way damage works is this: Take your earth and multiply by 2. You have that many wound points per level except for the down wound level, which has earthx5 points in it.
So taking 22 damage would fill your healthy, nicked, grazed, hurt and injured wound levels, and fill 2 points into the Crippled wound level, giving you +20(!!!) to all TNs.
12 damage would put you all the way through Grazed, giving you +5 to all TNs.

Now, will that Dragon give in or will he go into a berserker rage? One of us should probably jump through the window and rip off his head for show. It is the proper order of things in Rokugan.

Depending on whether the mayor spent void, he may actually not be unconcious yet.
He has an earth of 4, I believe- so he has double the HP at every injury threshold that we have...
Regardless, the Dragon seems to be in a bit of a precarious position. Let's just try and make it slightly more precarious, shall we? :P
Roll to hit the dragon- not calling any raises because 25 is still brutally high >_<

The dragon is the only real threat atm. Even if the mayor is still conscious, I don't think he'll be able to hurt us further. The dragon, on the other hand, could still theoretically kick all our asses.
Do we need to bother with the peasants or will they give up now, CJ? With the dragon gone and the Mayor in pretty bad shape, I'd think they'd be cowed into stepping down.

Then that looks perfect. Just up to CJ to let us know if the dragon has a really really high earth, or whether he's really really dead.
Going to update in a second, two bad guys are down. Dragon is dead in fact, in *think* the mayor is still hanging on, i'll have to check. The peasants are scattering to the four winds, ceasing their protest. The Ji-samurai have lined up with the ronin, effectively defecting to your side.
I think we'd better get some information out of the Mayor. Setting things in order may be the right thing to do, but finding out why all the mechanisms slipped into disarray is what interests me.

Do we do this with intimidation, or finesse? Because I don't think we have alot of finesse with awarenesses of 2.
That depends, do we think he's ready to be broken? It's obvious the Mayor had a twisted view of the world. That kind of person might never aquiesce, no matter how dire his situation. The Empire has no need for dreamers and reformers. Long live the Emperor!

Honestly, I'm not sure we have a choice to try the mayor here. I don't think any of us ranks high enough to try him, though Rei being a magistrate might change things there.
I gather we'll end up taking him to the mainland, assuming we want to follow the law in this matter.

Your earth is 2 (substats being 4, 2).
so you have 4 points in each wound level.
Healthy (+0) level: 4
Nicked (+3) level: 4
Grazed (+5) level: 4
Hurt (+10) level: 4
Injured (+15) level: 4
Crippled (+20) level: 4
Down (+40) level: 4
Out level: 10
So taking 22 damage would fill your healthy, nicked, grazed, hurt and injured wound levels, and fill 2 points into the Crippled wound level, giving you +20(!!!) to all TNs.
12 damage would put you all the way through Grazed, giving you +5 to all TNs.
Edit: How much experience would I get for joining the Mayor?
Be back home tomorrow night.
edit: any and all delay was my bad, totally my bad.
Welcome back, CJ!

I didn't need void points anyway >_>
edit- I am nicked! (+3 to TNs).
Do we want to bother with initiative business? Basically, we're all going now in a row.
Do it then! Call your raises and roll your dices.
Dooo eeet.

6d10.open(10).takeHighest(2) → [9,9] = (18) vs 15 - 10 +5 = 10. Success.
Strength*1.5+Base Damage+Large

5d10.open(10).takeHighest(3) → [9,8,8] = (25)
Ouch.
I'll put up a post in the thread presently.

6k3+3(technique)+3(katana specialization)-3(grazed)= 28 hit!
Damage = 5k2+3(technique)= 25.
He's not happy.
That said, do as you please
I think he needs an earth of 4 and to have spent a point of void to reduce his damage taken by 10 to be clinging to life.
54 damage + 25 = 79.
Earth 4 = 8 health in his first 7 wound ranks (56 total), and 20 in his last one (76 total).
79-10=69 damage would leave him 7 hp from death.
But 4 earth is ALOT.
I gather we'll end up taking him to the mainland, assuming we want to follow the law in this matter.
