    So

That magnum that you get from the Wal-Mart edition of this game?

I'm pretty sure it kills everything in one hit.

Also I guess I'm gonna have to learn the rules of poker at some point

Because it seems like every open world game has poker and then ties an Achievement to it

The recurve bow is a HUGE disappointment

It doesn't feel satisfying at all

This may be your worst opinion yet.

How many of the assaulter enemies have you shot with it as they're running right at them.

    So good.

Also how have you never learned the rules to poker?

Aren't you like my age and a half?

I barely know the rules to poker.

I learned it from Poker Night at the Inventory.

I can only play poker against bad AI. I am the worst bluffer ever. And I tend to chase gutshot straights.

I missed the customary poker game on my eighteenth birthday

    And I don't know

I guess Skyrim has spoiled me on how cool you can feel with a bow

The sniper rifles in this are amazing though

No one will play poker with me so I don't know how good I am.

I did manage to once get a fantastic hand and win a huge pot in a 360 arcade game.

But that was dumb luck since I didn't even know what fold meant.

It's where you take your cards and bend them in half, like you're "folding" them.

That is a little hard to do with a digital card.

That is a pretty good strategy if you want nobody to know what you're up to ever.

And Vow as much as I do love bows in Skyrim and Oblivion, the way dudes crumple in this game when you hit them is way more satisfying to me than the ridiculous ragdoll skyrockets they become in Bethesda Games.

it mostly bugs me that the bow is only truly silent on headshots

I switched it out for a sniper rifle and never looked back

I assumed it would be of some benefit on hunts, like it does more damage to animals or something

    nope

no reason to ever use anything besides a gun unless they're forcing you to

I found other than like, a shotgun (which has limited utility otherwise) or one of the magnums (which really aren't much better at range than the shotguns) it was much easier to put out a lot of high damage shots quickly with the bow than anything else.

Also the only reason you should ever need to use a bow is that they are letting you use a bow.

    #YEAROFTHEBOW

Really though to each his own and it's rad that this game accommodates so many playstyles.

in the time it takes me to fire the three or four necessary arrows to kill, say, a tiger, I can do the job with half a magazine from an MP5, reload, nail two broads, have a cigarette, make them breakfast, drive them home to their shantytown, and upload pictures from each of those events to instagram

I just liberated the last outpost I had left on the Northern Island. It was relatively flat all around so I decided I'd just bro up and go in guns-a-blazin'. Someone tripped an alarm, no biggie, right?

You'll never guess what showed up!
For serious, don't read this if you want an awesome surprise

Unless you set explosive arrows to 7. Then they take 2.

Also, switching from a silenced semi auto assault rifle to a more powerful automatic one with an extended magazine is so much more fun.

Running around as I slice goats with my upgraded knife and unloading on bears has broken my fear of the jungle.

    This is awesome.

That's disappointing. There are lasers that make people blind but don't burn them though?

That would probably be silent, and/or a war crime of some sort.

no see what you want to do, is you take out all of his friends and then walk up and shank him once and run

he'll freak the hell out, shooting randomly, huckin' grenades, then you sneak up on him and stab him

Yeah, and checking it out, "dazzler" lasers are not uncommon and are used by lots of countries, but are a war crime if used to permanently blind.

Yeah I liked the bow a lot at first kinda taking Patrick Klepek's stance on it, but it's really hard to score headshots and generally just isn't as satisfying anymore as the sniper rifle for long range stuff, and regular takedowns for short range stuff.

I'm liking the stealth stuff in this game, specifically no-detection base clears. Tons of xp and some definite satisfaction. The lack of a quick save sometimes sucks a lot when I lose 20 minutes of painstaking takedowns, but it also makes a perfect clear that much more awesome.

I keep doing side stuff and after every side mission Jason is like "I'll play ball if it gets me closer to my friends. Maybe Dennis knows more about Hoyt" and then he calls Dennis and they have a long conversation.

Every time I do a radio tower or outpost or supply drop or anything

I think I'm ready to crack, so

Good job, game, I'll progress the story

Yeah complaining about UI stuff is nothing compared to replaying the start of a mission conversation every time you die/reload after beginning it. Forever.

    For me, it was

(end of Buck's missions, about halfway through)
    "You're not here!"
"Not this time, mate. Did you find it? The knife? The tomb?"
    "Yeah, I have the knife."

That's the future of modern warfare, I guess. Which apparently looks like it was made to bludgeon enemies to death. So, yeah, a lot like the original XBOX.

The best/worst part is the designation it was given, which is a clear example of acronym torture. It's called the personnel halting and stimulation response rifle. Or PHASR for short.
