Dead Space 3 is an upcoming third-person shooter video game, developed by Visceral Games. Announced at E3 2012 on June 4, 2012, it is the sequel to Dead Space 2 and the third main entry of the Dead Space series. Primarily set on a frozen planet called Tau Volantis, the game will follow protagonists Isaac Clarke and John Carver as they attempt to end the Necromorph threat.
Dead Space 3 has a drop-in/drop-out co-op mode for its campaign, which was announced at EA's E3 2012 press conference, stating that it will unlock "additional story details and gameplay mechanics only found when playing as the co-op character, EarthGov Sergeant John Carver." Each player will have alternate experiences as a result of their characters' dementia. A Visceral Games employee has confirmed it was "always intended to have co-op in Dead Space." He also pointed out that if the player chooses to play alone, Carver "may appear at some points (as do other NPCs) but for the most part he is not there."

But I just didn't have any urge to play the second one.
Its very much action horror in Dead Space 2.
But its awesome.
Except for THAT mini game.
FUCK THAT MINI GAME

I'm talking about the
Eye mini-game in the penultimate chapter (I think its then)
Where if you fuck it up you end up ramming a probe into your eye/brain and dying horribly.

It's just. Whenever I go to buy a game. I don't think to buy it?
You wanna borrow my PS3 copy? I played the first through a couple of times and enjoyed it, then just stopped playing Dead Space 2 after a couple of hours.

See, I didn't have that much of a problem with the eye mini-game.
Now, hacking open a door while an invincible Nercromorph tries to disembowel me, that's marginally frustrating.

The first one was scarier, but the second one was a better game.
I have a hard time picking which one I like more.
Hopefully 3 ends up being better, but it looks like it's straying a tad too far from the horror part for my tastes. I'm probably still going to love it though.

I think I'll just buy the first two for PS3. I've tried them both on the PC, and the controls did not make the transition very well, even when using a controller.
Man, I love the games, but some of the Dead Space death scenes are smack bang in the category of things that make me physically uncomfortable, so it makes it that much more intense for me.
Also, I'm gonna say that I thought DS2 was scarier than the original, if only because I felt like the whole thing with Isaac slowly going crazy maintained a sense of tension and impending threat.
Y'know, beyond NECROMORPHS EVERYWHERE.
DS1 sets a good atmosphere, but it really doesn't maintain the same level of terror throughout.
Though I will say that the Hunter and Ubermorph are absolutely pants-shittingly scary.
Any section with the regenerator is legitimately the most terrifying thing I have ever played.
I cut off all the bits, but it's still moving around? Okay, lemme ju - wait, why is it immune to damage no - WAIT, WHAT THE FUCK, THEY GREW BACK!?
EDIT: And now it's perforating my chest cavity. Great.

Yeah, the Regenerator parts were hard to handle at first. Luckily I figured out that cutting off his legs and all but one arm was, and then hitting him with Stasis was a great way to delay his intention to vigorously claw-fuck my internal organs.

DS2 improved so much on DS1.
I mean, both are great games but going back the first after having played the second just makes you miss those little things they added.

Especially when I'm using the ripper.
The sound combination of the ripper in use and the necromorphs screaming at me made me go all

Unfortunately, since I was doing it with a 360 controller, this meant that I would be unable to use both triggers at the same time.

The PC version of DS1 was bugfucked for a while on some systems
You had to turn off vsync to make it unfucked, and depending on the graphics setup you had it could have possibly lead to... issues.
Yeah shitloads of screen tearing made the game controllable, but unwatchable
It's definitely fixed now though, played through it about a month ago
