I've been kind of sitting on my ass lately, just building dumb decks and running them once at an FNM and breaking them up. It's been good for my win/loss ratio, since no one is packing obvious and appropriate answers (took out a super draw Chasm Skulker deck last night, which used Nylea's Presence to win more than one game).
I'm hoping these spoilers we have coming inspire me. I've been really bored of Standard.

So I think I will just go straight BG Rock for modern until I get a feel for the format, then splash either red or white. (Probably white because Lingering Souls is great.

Lemme know if I have this right: if I put an aura in play with a genesis hydra, I just attach it to an appropriate permanent, right? And it also doesn't target and so could get around hexproof?
i mean if its one of your own guys it doesnt matter, though bear in mind since gen hydra triggers on cast your aura enters play before hydra does so he wont be a legal target
if its a detrimental one for the opponent it still targets and is blocked by hexproof im p sure? it isnt "cast" but it still has to target
303.4f If an Aura is entering the battlefield under a player’s control by any means other than by
resolving as an Aura spell, and the effect putting it onto the battlefield doesn’t specify the object
or player the Aura will enchant, that player chooses what it will enchant as the Aura enters the
battlefield. The player must choose a legal object or player according to the Aura’s enchant
ability and any other applicable effects.
Doesn't target, secret trickzz. Doesn't get around protection though.

I tried to watch VRD8 yesterday, but the non-BWong commentary was beyond obnoxious.
I enjoyed #25 heartily.
Well, they were fairly drunk. The BWong commentary was great though. And the Notion Thief/consecrated sphinx thing was amazing.

My god old Blue was full of ridiculous schenanigans.
but I recall it being oppressive on a level that not even I felt comfortable playing so maybe not
