I haven't played PoE in a really long time so I dunno what it's up to, but diablo 3 is a supremely bad example of a game that releases new content with any frequency. They rebalance sets periodically to enable a new build or three, but we've been substantially running the same zones/maps since release. Adventure mode was a neat addition but didn't really do more than reconfigure existing assets a bit.

Adventure mode itself is more content than MH has in total.

Rifts are an amazing addition that have ladders and records. Which is more than MH could ever hope for. Greater rifts are an actual challenge that you can build around.

You know that rebalancing? That's because classes can use more than just crit and crit damage. D3 literally had dozens of stats, affixes and such that matter. Cube added a whole new dimension to legendary hunting. Unlike MH which is fighting and crit for everyone! 6 bis artifacts for the entire roster.

Like D3 updates slow. Probably as slow as Mh, but every single system from performance to itemization to enemy mechanics are so far ahead of MH that you're basically comparing the NES to a modern quad gpu showfloor rig.

LOL. Adventure mode is LQs/shared with a loot chest every now and then. Been like that since xpac release. Adv mode has had small changes since release I guess. They have added minor additions such as different objectives to do but it is the same maps since release and same method. The biggest change they have done in over a year has been adding in additional grind currency to adventure mode that you use for an item that requires grinding for what essentially artifacts in MH (legendaries). The new zone they added to adventure mode you do once to grab the cube and then only ever go back to it when Adv mode sends you to it. Sound familiar? Sounds awful like some of the MH content you have contention with.

Rifts are nice but in the end what are they really? Loot grind to reach the next tier of loot grind. Ladders never excite me as they are just ancillary content with little real benefits to them other than leet cred.

Loot grind is literally the genre

Lets just settle on that they all have their issues and all are very far from perfect.

Diablo is a horrible random grind to get that one piece of gear that lets you actually use the skills you want to, that is somewhat mitigated by the environments being randomized so they don't feel repetitive. The unique items do add interesting gameplay mechanics, but since everything is completely random drops, good luck experiencing any of it without a major time investment. Can get loot from killing anything which causes people to avoid bosses.
MH is a non-random grind to get that one piece of gear that, makes the skills you are already using and enjoying, better to get access to the next repetitive and grindy environment. Game play is probably the most snappy and interesting, suffers from only bosses giving gear, so people skip everything.
PoE skill tree is a nightmare, the gameplay feels dated and slow, and the environments are repetitive. It does have an interesting economy though.

Anyone got an Adamantium 400 LOH+3000health/100spirit core they'd trade for a similar core? I have that type for every core except Adamantium and DP needs some spirit.

I am actually enjoying and playing Future Fight (which is a mega grindfest) much more than MH at the moment. I have every hero in MH at 60 and the "content" they have released is of no interest to me (Axis, Ultron, etc.) and then the whole gating fiasco (which Brevik actually said he wants more of). New hero releases are just me eating some boosts and powering to 60 in under 4 hours then parking them and waiting for something else. The stash 2.0 is nice, achievements I don't care about (should have been in from launch). I'm really hoping Danger Room turns out well as I have been waiting for it for over a year now and it may be the determining factor whether I still regularly play the game. But knowing Gaz they will probably screw it up...

Hopefully, Danger Room will be the endless randomized "dungeon" thing that the game has needed since day one.

I'm so glad another game is taking (at least something similar to) Path of Exile's map system. I really wanted to like that game, but the most interesting part (the maps) is locked until end-game with a really slow leveling speed and a requirement to run through the story mode 3 times getting way harder every time, Diablo 1 and 2 style. If Danger Room works like that, without the bullshit grinding needed to get to it, I'll be super happy.

Does summoner Doom actually use/need Summoned Ally Health? Looking at an ARMOR Chaos Portal, it's got an almost perfect SA Damage rating (43.6%, perfect is 44%) but the SA Health is only 35.6% (perfect is again 44%). Wondering if I should refresh Jocasta's stock or just take this one.

  • DirtyboyDirtyboy Registered User regular
The main problem I see is the Danger Room chips are drops that have rarities to them and Gaz isn't good at droprates.

I have never worried about summons health on any of my summoners. Whatever incidental you get will keep them alive through anything they can survive. Just resummon them if they die.

Doomsaw finally commented on his departure, and the layoffs in general.
It's pretty long, here's the "important" bit:
I do want to take a rest, but I have talked with Dave about helping out in the future in a minor or unofficial capacity, so we’ll see what we can work up, but I do want to make it super clear that the talent at the company is immense and the company is in very good hands. When we run a company that is funded with real dollars from real people, we have to be super smart about keeping costs reasonable and smartly structuring everything to continue for the future. That means cutting salaries at all tiers (including Doom tier).

Note that several layoffs occurred, but they were all cost motivated and have nothing to do with performance. Any performance related cuts happened months & years ago.

I also want to assure people that the direction of the game is in a good place. All of the designers on the team 100% agree that the focus should be new content, working on balance, fixing bugs, improving quality of life and making events better and better.

I will still provide as much assistance to these guys and gals as time allows. I just typed up some feedback notes for Deadpool’s level 52 review, so get hyped for that.

I jumped in for a bit last night to see the War Machine fixes. He is pretty good sit and gun character now. With ranged I would heavily suggest grabbing flame thrower as I finally tried it out with just a 1 point.

Heat gen on ranged was still very slow to proc that first spitfire, so what I ended up doing for my rotation was, sorry cant remember the names right now, chest cannon CD to load that ammo -> ground aoe/slow -> single target/aoe fillers for a few seconds -> spirit regen CD -> big missle CD -> flamethrower to overheat -> spitfire -> singletarget/aoe fillers or siggy. Rinse and repeat. With this rotation and the pretty good gear I had on him I was able to keep the rotation up for a good long while. Not particuarily hard hitting but well enough to have a good clip on cosmic tasky. As good as any other char really.

    ITEM CHANGES
TheCosmicCupcake and Asros spent some time this week making changes to our drop rates for various rare items across the entire game. This is something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time, as we agree that with the constant additions of heroes, gearing them has become more and more difficult.

There are other improvements and QoLs in the pipeline, such as more drop rate changes (detailed below the changes here), medkit boxes on vendors, and more.
    • Kingpin’s White Suit Jacket artifact and Ruby Topped Cane Unique have an increased chance of dropping in Green, Red, and Cosmic terminals, as well as Industry City Patrol and Cosmic Industry City Patrol.
    • Dr. Doom’s Hand of Doom artifact, Helm of Doom Unique and Latverian Monarch Cloak Unique have an increased chance of dropping in Green, Red, and Cosmic terminals, as well as Midtown Manhattan and Cosmic Midtown Manhattan Patrol.

Hoped on the forums to look at the Panther QOL. Pretty much every post in the 3-4 pages hated everything. Most of the responses were the same from the last TC with Black Panther changes because they ignored all that feedback.

the only part of it I didn't like was that the crazy-ass attack speed on Predator's Frenzy blows through his spirit in no time flat

aside from that I think it's fine

granted, I don't give a shit about his daggers and I would just be sticking with Predator's Frenzy, Savage Strike, and Knockdown Sweep for my build like I did way back

also, people are being really whiny about the Winter Soldier changes, because they were under the totally wrong assumption that they needed to build around those bonuses on the movement powers and use both

I guess they feel like they made Jean too strong with her "mini review", so now they're swinging to the other half of the pendulum and doing a half-assed job to avoid having to re-nerf bad heroes. Gambit is still lame and it sounds like BP is following suit.

Makes me sad that Miles is probably never gonna win one of those polls just because he's so similar to regular ol Spidey. I don't get why they want to make him his own hero, he's only got two powers that are different to Parker's and that's not really enough to make a new character out of.

Hes got problems. Tying his sweep to an ability that moves you our of position is a DPS loss. Using the sweep without the stealth component is a waste of time. Same issue with Panther Leap.

The biggest issue is spirit though. Simply not sustainable.

It seems silly to base a new character on a poll from GI. Not every reader of GI is a fan of Marvel Heroes or Marvel comics in general, and many people will vote on a poll just because it's there. Given the list of characters, I can imagine lots would vote for Green Goblin on name recognition alone.

Personally I think I'd like to see any of the others in the game sooner than Green Goblin, except maybe Miles who doesn't necessarily even need to be a separate character.

What should I focus on getting for my Iron Man to make him Cosmic/Red Raid viable? I'm going with a missile build and so far I have a GOTK with ok/good stats, a rank 5 M'Kraan Crystal and my slot 1 and 5 up to 66. Looking at other guides for this build I've been doing Tasky runs to try and get his artifact. Any other good artifacts or uniques I should get for him? Fragment of Twilight, Hand of Doom and Iron Legion Armor Sheath are in a lot of builds, but all seem to be high end items that will take a while to get.

    Couple questions.

    1. I'm at about 2k Omegas. I want to get Cyke through the trial. What Omegas do people suggest for this purpose?

    2. Aside from Dr. Doom, is Rogue the only other character that can actually make full use of stuff like the Power Cosmic legendary? I looked in the official forums to see if anyone's built her out that way but haven't found one.
