So me and wife work thinking of getting the jackbox as it is 50% off on bundlestars. We were thinking of getting it because we have a family get together at our house this weekend. So, here is the question.
Everyone should have a smart phone, and I understand you can play that way. We plan on having it on the TV in the living room. Is it worth it for $13? It has only been historically low as $10, so we are real close to that price.
It has been a hit at every get together we've had. Both bundles are great, though I'd say the second one is quite a bit better, since YDKJ is only 4 players and there are 2 duds in there (with a possible 3rd if the people you are playing with don't like pictionary type games). The second pack only has one bad game, and it has an updated version of the best game from the first pack (Fibbage), which is always most people's favourite game.
But if you are not willing to pay full price for the second pack, I'd still say Fibbage and YDKJ are worth $13. Like I said, most people will probably just want to play Fibbage anyways, and there are around 250 questions, so it's not like you'll run out of them quickly. And by the time you do the second pack will probably be on sale.
Well I'm considering $3 off the all time low is close enough, on short notice. I will want to look for a sale on the other one. I guess I just talk to my wife and get a confirmation on buying it.

Also, Quiplash is a useful tool in discovery which one of your family members are terrible people.
Minor aside: if not everyone has smartphones, you can also make do with laptops, PCs, tablets, or pretty much anything else that has a modern web browser that supports WebSockets.

This game is Japanese as fuck. Yeah, of course there's a J-pop intro and jiggling and kawaii desu ne everywhere, of course there is.
*hour one*
Well, there aren't any random encounters, and you're in and out of dungeons pretty quick. And I guess Neptune's kinda growing on me, some of the writing is on the charming side of quirky. All right, let's see where this goes.
*hour two*
So that's how you put combos together. Cool, that works much better. Now what's this about customization?
*hour five*
I think I'm getting the hang of this. If I flip that dungeon to its alternate item set, I can get those things I need to burn the CD for those stat boosts. Orrrr I can save the memory, grind up to kill that optional boss critter, and see what plan it drop-
*hour nine*
i dont know when i crossed the event horizon i only know there is no escape now
dont send anyone they will only get stuck with me
also nep/noire is canon and i will accept no evidence to the contrary
Can it be 1998? Because that was clearly the best year for gaming. No contest.
I was about to debate this by pulling up the list for 2000, but holy shit '98 was packed: Unreal, Half-Life, Metal Gear Solid, Starcraft: Brood War, Resident Evil 2, Baldur's Gate, Fallout 2, Suikoden 2... it reads like a greatest hits list for all of gaming. 2000 didn't have as many household names, though there were still a bunch of great standouts: Thief 2, FF9, Diablo 2, Skies of Arcadia, Baldur's Gate 2, and Jesus 2 Deus Ex.
Lot of 2's in that list, amusingly.
Anyway, picking between those is basically impossible for me. It's not even a quantity vs. quality thing; each of those is something I would consider classic.
now I want a co-op Republic Commando all over again, I hope you are happy
The fact that Republic Commando didn't have co-op was bad enough as it is, but reading about the sequel that never got greenlit due to LucasArts' implosion is like someone twisting the knife (Republic Commando and The Force Unleashed spoilers below):
Sev lives, and frustrated with the treatment the clones received (basically being war slaves) he ends up kickstarting the Rebellion. You (Delta Squad) is initially tasked with taking him down, but end up defecting.
"Imperial Commando" was going to have the tagline "Rebellion begins with one man". Instead we got The Force Unleashed with its Gary Stu secret apprentice and the "We'll use his family sigil as our emblem" shoehorning.
tl;dr We almost got the best game ever, but then we didn't

Oh hey Underrail launched a few days early. That's the end of a 7 year development timeline so I hope it goes well for him and the team (and it's not just the No Mutants Allowed crowd rushing in and whinging about F4)
I haven't played it in a little while, but I still remember with a bit of shock and surprise that if you were being a smart-arse to your weapons training instructor he'd walk over and knock you out. The game has been content complete for some time and according to their Dev Diaries they've spent the past few months cleaning up the earlier areas and bring it up to the standard of late-game ones, so it should be a consistently good experience for those looking for a Fallout 2-vibe game.

God I'm a ridiculous Thief 2 fan. Looked at those lists and was like, "I don't even really have to think about this."
But wait: what about 1981? Zork II-The Wizard of Frobozz, Ultima I, Castle Wolfenstein, AND some game called "Softporn Adventure"?
All I know is periodically the direction of LA included creating and maintaining interesting IP. The some other jack hole would take over and suddenly if was All Star Wars All The Time and most of it was trash. Then cycle back and forth until the company was sold.
I'm just a little bitter about it because I interviewed for a QA position and they wanted me there and before I was to start, the ASWATT cycle started anew and by the end of the year I was nearly homeless...
All I'm saying is give peace a chance until they prove otherwise, I'm optimistic that future content won't be terrible.

And in case you haven't already, don't feel any shame about switching on the 'Weaken Enemies' plan that you can get. Rebirth1 has some bad difficulty spikes. The second and third games are much better in that regard.
I was 10 when everything came out in 98. I didn't exist in 81. My golden years are post 2000 with Ps2 and GameCube.
You only had a Silver Age, I'm afraid.
Does anyone here know what it was like to be a kid/young adult when Red Dead Redemption and Brutal Legend came out within months of each other? I just feel like that must've been mind-blowing.

"Huh, Skies of Arcadia Legends? Looks neat, and I've got some birthday money. Also game review sites don't really exist and I don't get into the Internet at-large until around 2005 so sight unseen!"
Some may call mine a Silver Age, but to that I say Morrowind, Kingdom Hearts, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Tales of Symphonia, and TimeSplitters 2.

AniList
That's strange, because The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past clearly came out in 1991. Thus, best year for anything ever.
EDIT My account says complimentary....maybe I added it when it was free, I only noticed I had it because there are cards now.

Basically, anything that happened in the 90s, I missed. Diablo 2 was my first back-to-gaming game...

It's possible since LucasArts effectively does not exist anymore.
Should I look at lucasarts and games workshop and see two companies with incredible ip's whose lack of action were disturbingly similar?

I'm not sure they had anything to do with preventing a plethora of terrible games with Star Wars skins.
Hopefully we will see some more quality games from any sci fi genre. I love sci fi settings and I'll be ready to move on from the modern setting era.
