Maybe a decade after the original C&C Renegade died out, some fans got together and started a project to remake the game. I was kinda surprised to see it was still being updated - the latest patch hit last week.

This is probably still one of the most exquisitely designed mods ever made
I jacked the difficulty up to maximum and in the first battle my horse and myself got essentially cleaved in half by one stroke - taking the full amount of damages makes you really scared to approach any row of crossbowmen or archers, I'm surprised by how much it feels like a real battlefield after the difficulty change

Just finished episode 1, and I'm really enjoying it so far. Nice to see the comparisons of my actions vs other people. I assume that at this point in the games life cycle, the "what everyone else did" % isn't going to change much.
They weren't as creepy as Fake Puzzle Agent though.
I'm kind of getting a feel for the system, but for me a big part of DMC3's appeal was the utter ridiculousness that is Dante, and well, Nero ain't no Dante. I mean, he is still ridiculous, but in a "this fucking doofus" kind of way as opposed to Dante's nearly surreal commitment to being a quippy 80's action hero as designed by a 14 year old Spawn/Matrix fanboy.
Plus I really miss being able to mess around with different weapons; Nero's sword engine is alright but I'm not good enough at the rev system stuff to really go nuts with it yet.

But it's also kind of a bummer? Because it's very clearly an indie game, by which I mean there's a bunch of hiccups in the geometry and the movement isn't as smooth as you'd like for how precise the game wants you to be
The amount of times I've died on the third level because of some invisible bullshit keeping me from dashing through a clear path to safety is, to put it lightly, unfortunate
Hopefully it's the kind of thing they can patch though, because the game itself is cool! Even if some of its systems are obtuse to the point of uselessness (the whole Sidearm thing is just like... I don't understand why its even there)

nero made no goddamn sense as a protagonist in a DMC game
he's too broody and just not fun
I liked the reboot but I doubt it'll ever get a sequel
they could probably get some cash out of continuing from DMC4's story
or like a spiritual successor with a slightly different protagonist
uMvC3 was a dmc sequel and the next mega man zero game everyone always wanted tho
