So I've been going though some of my old music I listened to back in the day. I kind of forgot how good the opening theme was for Bubblegum Crash... It's just a shame the series was junk. https://youtu.be/kXUIqvZcJrc
Rebellion is the third movie in the film trilogy. The first two movies are the remake of the tv series. Rebellion is a sequel to the series.
Rebellion is controversial.
e: the first two movies are almost a shot-for-shot remake with some dropped scenes, you can watch rebellion after watching the series without losing anything afaik

Not anime related but in my trip back home enroute to Japan I’ve stopped at Rudy’s BBQ in Texas for the first time in 11 years. God’s in his heaven, all is very good.

Rebellion is like, 80% excellent follow-up to the series. The other 20%, I can understand why people fluctuate wildly on.
It commits the cardinal sin of being unnecessary. The series had already reached a good ending point and the main narrative had concluded.
Rebellion has... problems. There's a mix of "why is this even here", good ideas, and good ideas with terrible execution. Also, it fails to resolve its narrative arc, which is galling after the main series concluded so cleanly.
was that a continuation of bubblegum crisis? was it bad in comparison to crisis?
Crisis was the first proper anime I ever watched way back in '89 - It blew my little mind back then and I have... emotions for that cartoon.
The issue is that Crisis was supposed to go longer but cut short due to a falling out between Artmic (animation studio) and Youmix (production studio). Also there were contract issues with the music involving Kinuko Oomori (the VA who played Priss) and her label, Toshiba EMI. After the dust cleared, Crash was an attempt to glue the scraps back together and Youmex used another animation studio to do an "accelerated" ending. They got sued by Artmic and everything imploded.
Bubblegum Crisis 2040 was a reboot... It's fine. Everything is fine... just...fine...

I tend to agree, I didn't watch Rebellion for about a a year after it released because I really liked the ending of Madoka. It was very emotional and sweet in a melancholy way.
That said I did enjoy Rebellion when I watched it even though
Homura did everything wrong
e: like, Rebellion made me a little upset but it wasn't a total shitshow like the Evangelion rebuilds

Ok after watching some Nozaki kun I can confidently say
You might be able to tell just by my handle, but I’ve always liked gender-bender manga & anime, but reading that write-up Kana posted really clarified why for me. I really like seeing those gender roles and stereotypes subverted. So I really liked Nozaki-kun, but didn’t realize why until now. I never would have guessed it was a 4-koma format from watching the anime, though I disagree that the format itself limits plot progression.

You know, I only just noticed that your name is Italian Ranma and not Italianarama
I honestly feel it was a great and I loved every second of the close of that movie. Everything it did felt completely in character.
Whether it was necessary is a whole nother discussion all together, but personally I take both the ending to the series as well as the final Rebellion movies as two distinct, wonderful ends to a great series.
Which hilariously is my exact opinion on Evangelion and End of Evangelion to a tee.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

like don't even watch the rest of the show just watch those two episodes (unironically do this, that is what I did)
Crash was a continuation, and yes Crash isn't very good

It did end in a weird place. At least one of the main characters is gonna die of exposure
