You know, as creative as those episode titles are in the OP, it would be nice to know what game they refer to. For those of us who haven't committed the reviews to memory, that is.

Yeah, I guess. I don't think it would be such a terrible thing to re-format the OP a little to remove the extra spaces and add the game titles such as: Humourous Title Link - Actual Game Name.

Yahtzee complains about not caring about some obscure Japanese RPG character and then instantly starts complaining about caring too much about some other obscure Japanese RPG character.

Curious how my level of caring was exactly the other way around. Kind of.

Is it so terrible that I agree with him? I've always had a dislike for SSB series, at least anything beyond the N64 version. Quite honestly, he summarizes my views on the series quite well. Its basically a multiplayer only game and for people who don't play multiplayer to that extent, it is really a worthless purchase in my estimation.

I agree with him on a lot of points as well, although I also know there are a number of fast, easy ways to unlock Sonic and Snake so that doesn't bug me so much, and I have no trouble being "that guy" so that's also not a problem.

Hee hee, Bill Murray. I basically agree with the "eh" conclusion, it's a fanservice game with a decent but not great fighting engine powering it. Nothing to get overly excited about either way.

I have played Brawl multiplayer once. Online. That was it. Rest of the time, I'm going against AIs or doing the non-basic-brawl stuff(Classic Mode, SSE, Stadium stuff, etc.). Was worth every penny. As was Melee before it, though I got a good chunk of multiplayer out of that one.

And he did touch on the biggest flaw of the game: the unlocking. It's a multi-player centric party game and in addition to needing to spend n hours unlocking everything (I still haven't unlocked all the assist trophies!), you can't copy the save file to an SD card and bring it to a friend's Wii.

Although the SINGLE PLAYER MODE is actually a lot more fun with two people.

What he said in the review doesn't really matter when it's brawl he's reviewing. The backlash either way would have been awesome.

I thought it was pretty funny.

I understand the point in doing everything that he disliked, but I also didn't really care. I don't know who Ness, Lucas, Marth, or Ike are either, having never played any of their games, but I enjoy playing them in Brawl.

As far as unlocking, yeah, it was a pain and I ran through the single player so fast in the first week so I would have everyone unlocked by the time I had people to play with, but it was at least a fun single player campaign.

Not trying to disagree or whatever with Yahtzee, when I heard I had to unlock Sonic and Snake (and that Sonic was one of the LAST to be unlocked) I was pretty ticked too.

Anyway, I'm not going to argue any points or be "that guy" or visit GAME TRADERS ROBINA. I enjoyed it, although not quite as much as some of his previous ones.

I dunno. It was a huge fucking save file though: 128 blocks; bigger than most VC games.

I think Friend Codes had something to do with it. I can't be sure.

To the game's credit, though, I can kinda see why they put Snake and Sonic near the end of the unlocking spectrum: most people, I suspect, are pretty much done with the game after you've unlocked all that you want to unlock. I certainly was, except the occasional fifteen minute multiplayer sessions with friends that inevitably get cut short due to general "ehs" all around. I'm planning on selling my copy soon here before the resale goes much lower.

Nothing against those who enjoyed it, of course.

edit: oh god I didn't want this on top.

edit2: Hell, let's go for broke: I think a criticism of the game is incomplete without mention of the half-broken online mode.

    I like SSBB.

But Yahtzee is pretty much completely right too.

However, my friends went out and bought copies of the game soon afterward so they could kick my ass. That and the fact that I ONLY play the game when I have people to play with saves me from being that guy.

That and SSE is the biggest piece of shit this gen.

    EDIT

I played online for the second time the other night. With a friend who lived about 100 yards away.

That was pretty awful to be honest.

A lot of what he said was flat out false. Honestly, my review of Brawl would have been a lot harsher than that, plus I would actually, you know, criticise the bad design rather than spending 3 minutes jerking off to my own sense of smug satisfaction as every ZP 'review' is.
