I like that first one a lot, Entaru. Nicely composed, exposed, colored, and I like the thin slice of DoF and its consistency across that slice.

It looks like a hamster skewered on a stake, to serve as a warning to other hamster tribes.

So I have more fireworks photos, but I'm pretty sure the one I posted already was the best, I feel so empty-handed.

Also, pope, could I possibly get that flowerbud shot rotated to landscape and huge, to use as a wallpaper? (1920x1200)?

Here it is rotated each direction as I'm not sure which looks better. Maybe the second one?

Well, you guys have quite clearly nicer cameras than me, so these photos won't look as nice. But there are a whole bunch I took back in winter. I have a few repeats that I went over with filters and cleaned up with in Photoshop.

First thing I would do is straighten the horizon. It seems a little high on the right side. Other than that, maybe a little bit of saturation, but not much else. The processing won't really add anything else to the shot since the colors are solid. As for the picture itself, it's a bit bland. You might try doing a panorama with it, but there's just not a whole lot going on in the image. The sky is near cloudless and the airplane lines aren't really doing anything for me.

It does, however, capture Kansas pretty well. I hope you like plains. :P

Tini: Your iguana pictures are pretty frickin' sweet. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3105/2639585677_5b5031a280.jpg <-- this guy is my favorite.

erisian pope: It took me like 10 seconds to find the lizard in that, haha. Clever little guy. Sweet capture.

I'm getting a new car soon, so hopefully than I'll be getting some sweet pictures finally. Hopping around my house, I got one of my holier-than-thou cat ("Max" or as he is also affectionately known as: "Ramstein the Gorger")

Went to a 4th of July parade, took pictures.

Due to my shaky handed-ness, a telephoto lens, and unexpected fog, most of the pictures came out blurry. Here are some decent ones however:

anable: actually, the second shot is the only one particularly great, in my opinion. Its monochromatic nature and flat dynamism is sort of hypnotizing and different. The first and third are, for me, the mehs. They're just beach shots. Nice, dramatically-lit beach shots, but still beach shots.

Hey Uncle Long, did you ever get that Tokina 12-24mm lens? I'm planning on ordering a super wide and some lights tomorrow or Monday and I still need to make the decision between the Tokina or the Sigma 10-20mm. Right now I'm leaning toward the Sigma because it has full time manual focus (big deal for my shooting style) and it's slightly wider.

Actually, that shot is with the Tokina. I got it last Thursday. It's been a great lens and covered everything I need it to. The AF-MF clutch is pretty excellent and locks soundly into place for either focusing scheme. The IQ is superb, and even at the corners wide open, it's pretty solid.

Long - those are some ominous looking clouds.

Jake - I'm not sure why, but I'm having a hard time coming up with any critique for your photos. I agree with Pilcrow that you're head's in the right place, but the pictures don't quite strike me. At the same time, I can't really come up with a whole lot on how to improve them so...I dunno. Keep posting. I promise I'll be more helpful next time. ;)
