I like how people go into games with unrealistic and completly wrong expectations and blame the game instead of giving it a fair chance and accept it on its own merits.
It makes me look back on my life and see all these things I truly loved but apparently aren't allowed to.
I just saw a bunch of people in some thread talk about how Inception is objectively awesome and if you didn't like it something was wrong with you.
Also that because Avatar made a shitload of money it is automatically good and you cannot think otherwise.
Christmas morning around here passed with each family member having a small mountain of gifts, and I clutching a single preorder receipt my parents were kind enough to get me. It wasn't so much feeling burnt by it as it was me thinking "I deserve some nice stuff too."
So I went out Boxing Day shopping, and took a plunge.

I also bought a 360. :? It was only $129 cdn though.
That was my plan, but every place that was selling them for $130 was sold out, so I got it from Zellers for $150. I figured losing twenty bucks on it wasn't so bad - it just wasn't so sweet, either.
Also: Darksiders and Bayonetta are both awesome. Good choices :^:
You've blogged a lot about how the Wii's games are subpar and/or disappointing...
I don't think I call them subpar, I just complain that I don't find them very fun. Or at least, I'm frustrated that I don't find them very fun. Except for Muramasa, which is fucking awesome.
The lion's share of the blog is still (and will likely continue to be) PS3-centric.

I have, uh, 13 Wii games, and I enjoy them all on some level.
Except Oneechanbara. Boy was that a letdown. I thought it'd be quirky, silly fun, but it's just bad.
Yeah, I keep seein' Trauma Team for cheap and think "CJ says that's awesome... but it's 20 bucks... and if I haven't been able to get into Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Dead Space Extraction or No More Heroes, should I really keep trying with the Wii? I've got too many games that need playing anyway."
Honestly. I don't like Mario Galaxy. It's like something's broken inside me.

Trauma Team is great. It's not at all difficult like Trauma Center, but the story and atmosphere makes up for it.
It's a bit of Trauma Center and a lot of Phoenix Wright. The diagnostician and forensic missions are by far the best.
Oh, yeah, I saw people not being too horribly happy with it, but oh well! I still need to get some of the previous games that never came out over here; I've only played DJ Max Fever so far.

Clazziquai is the best of the other three we didn't get. Only get Portable 1 if you want to really, really suffer. It's the hardest game in the series, to nonsensical levels.
Chance: Oh snap, the new season of Futurama's out on DVD?
I know what I'm doing tomorrow
Yep - the full season, including the Christmas special.
So I'm all frustrated by the endless forced tutorials the 360 is putting me through - I can't believe it won't let me move on until I pick/make an Avatar - and I finally get to play Limbo.
And it's like "yeah. Yeah, this wasn't a bad purchase."

I saw your blog post about that Metal Gear Rex. That thing is amazing. I still can't believe it's papercraft.
Got mostly money this year outside of the random baseball cap, t-shirt, or car accessory. Gonna bank most of it, with the only intended purchase being a Wi-Fi adapter for my 360 that I've been needing for years.
Oh yeah also the $500 I'll need for the deductible on my wrecked car.

I'm not sure if they are xbox exclusives, but some of my favourites among Xboxlive Arcade are - Shadow Complex (Think Super Metroid) Toy Soldiers (Tower Defense which I usually hate, but you can steer all individual units) Deathspank 1 and 2 (Diablo 2 / World of Warcraft light with good humour)
I figured I'd give NMH another shot and see if I can deal with the motion control this time around (in the same way that I kinda deal with it to play NSMB and DKCR). If it sucks, I just found out yesterday that NMH2 has a CC option, so, awesome.
Just Cause 2 and Alpha Protocol I got for cheap. I know JC2 is awesome, I'm hoping AP is fun despite hearing about it being horribly broken.
Grabbed a use Twilight Princess because it's pretty hard to come by now. The disc is a little scratched, hopefully it works fine.
I just picked up a 160gb PS3 for myself. What are the system-exclusive must-haves here? I got MGS4, God of War 3, Soul Calibur 4 and Uncharted 2. I want to find Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3, but after that I don't know.
EDIT: As soon as I posted this, an ex-girlfriend that I remain on friendly terms with texted me with "So I have a $150 gift card to spend on PS3 games..."

Skutskut find a really good CD to play when you play Xenosaga. Because there's practically no music outside of battles and cutscenes. It can get pretty boring to only hear your footsteps.
But they do it when there should be some exciting music playing. Like a bunch of soldiers have just invaded the ship, you've escaped custody, and now you have to get out. So what kind of music is playing?! Nothing. It's silence. At least have some muzak playing over the intercom. The same battle music is what gets really old though. I think even bosses have the normal battle music, so it's the same for every single fight until the final one.
Pajama pants, coffee mugs, Droid Incredible, Kingdom Hearts: BBS, beef jerky, coffee grinder, pez and reese's candy, tiny rc car, little mice for the cat, and most importantly three Sufjan Stevens records: Illinoise, Michigan, and the rare, out-of-print Seven Swans which must have cost my girlfriend a pretty penny.
Coincidentally, I had also gotten her Illinoise and Michigan, but we're going to return those for a couple others.
Meeerrrry Christmas! I have more presents waiting for me back home, too. I'm so spoiled.

Yeah but the only PS1 game to use the right analog stick was Ape Escape, and even then, it wasn't camera control

Oh yeah, and that guy? Voiced by Patrick 'Ragna The Bloodedge' Seitz.
mostly from yesterday!
Although truth be told, Portable 3 looks pretty mediocre.
If I'd seen it in stores, I might have caved in, but advance press hasn't left me optimistic.
MHP3? It's actually the accessory bundle, and not the game. :P

But it just occurred to me. I havent had a Windows machine in almost 10 years. I have had the same PPC Mac for that entire time.
So...should I download Steam? Is that even viable on a netbook? What can I do with this thing?

I found Planet Earth on Blu Ray for 30 bucks at Barnes & Noble (YMMV).
The rest was found via used game store, best buy, target, and walmart.
The gloves at the top (hard to see) were from my girlfriend's (Kirbith's) grandma.
Kirbith got me Inception and 3d Dot Game Heroes too.

Bought!
All four songs in the game!
Xenosaga 2, the worst game in the series, had phenomenal music, and Mitsuda had nothing to do with it. How the mighty have fallen.
