I was in a couple different groups with PA folks this evening, and ended up disconnecting out of both. Apparently my computer has decided to have system issues of some sort and blue screen at a troubling frequency. Sorry about the disconnects, I'll be doing my penance in Windows Restore/Reinstall Hell.
At least you can fix yours. Mine is just "lol comcast" kicking me to a "lost connection to game server" screen. I feel like I'm letting people down every time it happens during a match.
So, just played a mission on Attack where their Mei icewalled the spawnpoint exit and kept icewalling the major pathways, and then had Bastions guard the side flanking areas.
The second game, the team with Mei had to capture the objective, so turtling and ice walling hardly worked. And I think everyone knew to focus fire on Mei till she was dead.
I can't find it in the OP, but what do you guys use to group up? Is it the PA vent server, or something else?
Also, I just had a game as Genji where I killed an ulting Junkrat and then hit left-shift to slash his tire before it went off.
copy and paste btags from the spreadsheet and mass invite when you log in, that's what I do. I've never used anything but the ingame chat for PA groups.
Still have no idea how to break the Turret + Bastion + Reinhardt + Mercy + whoever you want on Temple of Anubis. It's so much DPS down the middle and left sides that they're basically right out, and you can't snipe anyone because of Reinhardt. Which means you have to go in to the right but the right just dumps you into the middle unless you have mobility, but then you instantly die to the turret.
And if they start getting overrun, Bastion tank mode or Molten Core are going to instantly kill you, and even if you beat that, you get rezzed on. I've been on both sides of it and it generally feels impossibly strong.
Defending Kings Row against 6 McCrees... Only 4 made it past the first gateway... and 3 of them were immediately sucked into a black hole and dismantled.

come on the right side, blindfire junkrat shit at them nonstop and then sneak a tire in from the sides. Or just bait them into shooting at zarya, get high energy, bomb them. Find edges where you can only reinhardt's shield and tenderize his defenses. Or just time a hanzo ult to go in with your attack.
This game has so many powerful ults, and you're going to know exactly where most of the team is going to be. there's a bunch of things you can do in that situation. Your team might not be coordinated enough to do it, but if you're uncoordinated and the other team is, then you were going to lose anyway.

Yup, Mei's ult can be thrown all the way down the center too. Also, every class can jump over the right side wall.
Also had another good match as Zarya. She's quickly becoming a favorite for sure. Their genji couldn't reflect me, their D.Va showed a lot of confusion when my beam went through her defense, and I used their McCree's Fan to charge myself and explode everything. Even had a nice ultimate that stopped said genji from putting his ult to use, and I laughed as the tried to dash out of it and got sucked back in.

Pop Pharah up over the arch, bomb them while they're distracted by the ground dudes. Can also get Widowmaker up there easily enough, though I don't know if she's got the angle to go over the shield. If the turret's in back, it's out of range of you there, so Bastion is the only issue, and he can't shoot everywhere at once.
Can also be a jerk and Tracer in a bomb, recall out, force the rez. Etc.
Really the reason Anubis point B and Hamamura B are such pains to capture is because their design of being inside of closed spaces really enforce to the damn team that hey, this is your area, do not wander away from it. Meanwhile the attackers tend to keep randomly filtering in from different angles and losing 3 on 1 fights.
King's Road feels easier because the attackers get funneled right towards their objective, so the damn players actually go where they're supposed to, while the defenders have to decide how far up the tunnel they'll defend.

Also add Volskaya Industries to the PitA point B capture points. Though I still think that map is super fun. Actually I think all maps are super fun, so I guess take my word with a grain of salt.
Playing as Mei to try and diversify a bit from Lucio. She's incredibly useful, but most of her work tends to be in indirect ways. Blocking being worth more might help her (and Rein's) points/xp reflect their team contribution more accurately.

Vaugely standing near each other with powerful basically unmissable defensive ults isn't really coordinated. That's mostly what I'm saying, the level of coordination to defend it is significantly below attacking it. Fairly coordinated but not super coordinated attacks get instantly killed.
Started playing Zenyatta since I figured I needed a backup to my usual Zarya (<3) shenanigans and I'm getting the hang of him but unless a team is doing at least decently he is just so, so vulnerable. With a decent team he can do some real work and keep a team chugging along with heals and a pretty absurd damage output and in a good team that's covering angles he's fucking scary. You kinda got to treat him like a portable turret almost. He also breaks Reinhardt's shield hella fast which can easily put them in a panic mode since they can't reliably slow push in anymore.
I don't think it's ever going to get old, seeing a Reaper teleport in the middle of your team, hearing the start of a super being activated, then charging and slamming him into a wall as Reinhardt.
In fact, I don't think charging as Reinhardt is ever going to get old. One game, I charged a Winston, and we didn't hit a wall for ages. In fact, the charge stopped just as we reached a cliff, so the Winston fell to his doom, while I stood on the edge of the cliff next to an enemy Tracer (who I then twonked as a mallet).
9 hours as Reinhardt, and I still can't get over the compunction to charge things into a wall. Sure more often than not it doesn't achieve much, at which point I feel a bit sheepish, but I think I'm getting better (there was one game I'm sure an enemy Mercy swapped characters because I kept on picking her out from the crowd).
Good times with the PS4 PA people, who seem to make the game much more enjoyable, even if it is to share in the misery of the pugs picking Widowmakers and Hanzos (there was one game where we had 2 Hanzo's and 1 Widowmaker on defense).
My second POTG ever (since launch) was actually me as Mei doing the highest level of trolling attainable in a game (wasn't even my ult or anything.)
In fact, as soon as I pick Mei, my brain goes into a special mode where all it thinks is "how can I ruin someone's afternoon today?"
Yeah... which is why I always commend a Mei if she is played in the most annoying way. I had a Mei that managed to stop TWO of my Reinhardt ults and 2 charges who would've most likely killed someone with a wall, and froze and killed me like 3 times because no one was shooting on her.
that deserved a "wp mei" in all chat after

I really love D.va. She's such a hit and run specialist, super fun to play. And hunting down Mercy and the snipers is also extremely satisfying. And the animation for jumping back into the mech is really well done and gets me wanting to kill kill kill some more.
Anyone on console able to connect their b.net I'd to their console game? I saw the option in the game menu, gave it a couple of tries and it kept complaining it wasnt the correct set of credentials. Didn't investigate further since everyone I was waiting for logged on. I assume it just lets you send/receive b.net messages?
McCree is a monster when played well. Many argue that he is brain dead to play and that's fine, but I've always sucked with him.
Ive seen a good McCree destroy my team over and over and it made me sad because I've always wanted to play the cowboy. Every time I tried, I would fail his e-right click combo and die; or do the "it's high noaaaasrgh" thing. It has been bad.
Last night I tried him again. Something clicked. Reaction time caught up with me a bit. I got several gold medals and play of the game. I know a lot of people think he's cheap and lame but I might be playing him more now. I wanna be the cowboy.
I'll be cleaning the salt out of my revolver this afternoon.

I think the problem is the other team doesn't need to coordinate well to lock it down like that. And all your coordination can be undone by a decent mercy player and then they can unleash their own ults to clear you back out.
Any time the spawn gets super lopsided like that my team tends to lose. Even if we're recently coordinated and much higher individually skilled.
Yes you have ults, but so do they. And offensive team whipe ults are usually easily countered and or shut down.
I'm guessing deeps the shield and snipe the turrets and bastion would be ok but most decent players put their turrets and bastion in head glitching blocked spots that make it hard to safely get a good angle

Pharah can leap into the air and fly and traverse the entire map.
If you aren't initiating your ult as Pharah from behind the entire enemy team you only have yourself to blame.
And yet I see so many people do it.
