You know, as much as I like the trope of the OP song playing during a hype as fuck moment, i’ll be damned if I can think of ny examples off the top of my head
It happens in literally every season of Symphogear.
Just another reason why Symphogear is peak anime.
The first season finale of BBK/BRNK did it, too.
I think Re:Zero used Redo during at least one episode.
It's a pretty common trope, if your music is any good it's a good easy way to trigger instant hype.
What are some real good recent OPs that will fire you up and fill you with motivation?
For the "recent" I'll arbitrarily set the cutoff at 3 years old at most.

Gurren Lagann is the one that immediately comes to mind, during the moment where Simon snaps out of his funk.
Plus the last episode
When they're being hit by the energy of a big bang and Rossiu watching from home goes "Nah that won't be enough to stop them"

Oh right, I vaguely remember that.
It's just that Konosuba's OP has such an upbeat song as opposed to a "NOW IT'S TIME TO THROW DOWN" type song

Looking at an episode listing, I feel like a ton of important shit happens at the end of x2
Maybe there's some lull in the middle that I'm not particularly remembering? But shit is popping off left and right at the end of the second season.
i don't remember the pacing necessarily being the problem in durarara x2 so much as the central conflict could be solved by these characters just talking to each other but they refuse to
mikado and masaomi work as every-manish dudes who are your vehicle for you to witness the supernatural and cool ongoings in Ikebukuro but work a lot less well when they are actually important to the plot and
their stupid gang past or whatever is front and center
but maybe I am not remembering how it was before x2
80s and 90s cyberpunk was something special. There's so much design and detail crammed into every frame.
I did a blitz of Bubblegum Crisis, Black Magic, Appleseed, and Cybercity Odeo. I think I'll finish with Ghost in the Shell.
Ahahaha... let me know if you find that one (SAC anyways) anywhere.
Are the DVDs that rare?
I should have clarified I meant streaming in particular I guess. There are more options otherwise, though yeah, SAC in particular had some issues
Apparently Amazon Prime Video has the Ghost in the Shell movie on streaming. I haven't checked to see if it's the 2.0 version or not, but it's there if you have Prime...
Death Parade's op manages to like majorly spoil future plot points, but in an OP so tonally misleading that you don't even notice the spoilers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIm2s7t97NI
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
In Final Fantasy XIV, whenever the main theme song of an expansion plays...shit is going down.
One brings shadow, one brings light...
That's probably the best one, but the Heavensward one where Hraesvelgr reveals something to Nidhogg and that theme starts up is probably a close second.
I think Stormblood just kind of forgot to do it, because I don't remember Revolutions playing during the main scenario.
Hm, I had a specific OP in mind but I can't for the life of me remember which anime it's attached to. I thought it was Heroic Age but I looked that one up and I was wrong, though the one I'm thinking of is probably from around that timeframe. It was a swing jazz piece with some English at the start that I can only vaguely remember. Anyone have any idea what I'm thinking of?

Not sure
but you did just remind me that in the 'rad song from a show I never watched' category there's the jazzy OP for Kakegurui. Which is apparently some sort of fanservice-laden homoerotic extreme gambling show.
The animation is maybe kinda a bit much, so I'll just link the song.
This coming week's Jump Table of Contents has leaked, and it's the first week Yozakura Family is ranked. Excluding color pages, it got fifth, which is the strongest start in a LONG time for any series. So I'd expect that one to stick around for a while.
Tskushima's arc is one of the best in Haikyuu. His character archetype offers the potential for some really strong character arcs in a sports series. I'm thinking Mitsui in Slam Dunk and Kine in H2, both of which I think have the most powerful moments in their respective series even though they are not the protagonist.
I'm extremely hype for the upcoming fourth season.
By far and away my favourite thing about My Hero Academia openings is how they slowly transition through Deku and All Might's relationship.
In the first couple, All Might is a distant figure he watches from afar.
By the third they're mentor and student, the fourth they're sitting/standing as equals, the fifth All Might is pushing him forward to take up his mantle.
Just some great imagery all round.
The third is probably my favourite of those, it doesn't have the highpoints of some of the others but I feel it's paced really well.
I finally figured it out after mumbling to myself for like an hour trying to remember the English and googling until it finally popped up:

I was going to write that I hadn't actually watched many anime in the last three years, but then I remembered that Pop Team Epic was last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmrosfxGifQ
This OP is ridiculously high-quality for Shitpost: The Anime.
Baccano is great because it somehow, somehow manages to do several ongoing mysteries and split the story between four different asynchronous timeframes and many different characters and still manages to work.
It's also great because the plot is great and basically every single character, even the absolute pieces of shit, are amazing. Almost every one would be the breakout star of another show.

Baccano is a very tight story, and doesn't seem to add anymore than it needs.
Durarara just keeps going and going and adding more and more to the point where you just lose track. The peak was the Yellow Scarves arc, after that, it just gets crazy town.
Fun crazy town, but still.
But Baccano's novels keep going and going too, so maybe its adaptation just knew when to quit.

The thing about Durarara is that it's 52 episodes but the third batch of 13 episodes is a big pile of fucking nothing happening.
It could have just been 40 episodes total and been fine.

Pretty sure Konosuba did it both seasons.
Eh? The first season is 25 and the second season is 36 and I recall pretty important stuff happening right up until the end?
Okay so I forgot the total number of episodes.
So cut 12 episodes out of that second+ season. The pacing was fucking garbage.
