Honestly the bit in Big Trouble In Little China where Jack Burton KOs himself and is unconscious for most of the final battle is some extremely good comedy
It’s a pretty consistent movie WRT Burton, right up through the point where his ignorance is why he wins.
Yeah the movie sets up Jack and pays him off pretty well. Even the all in the reflexes bit is established early on.
I'm terrified if they ever remake the movie.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Therefore, it shouldn't come as any surprise that Trump doesn't watch films like you. In fact, Trump doesn't even watch films - he speed-watches them. In a 1997 piece in The New Yorker, Trump explains that he can get any film down to 45 minutes. Why? Because he's a monster, that's why.
No, as the piece describes it, Donald Trump has someone man the remote and fast-forward through plot, substance and exposition so that he can get to the action scenes. No, really. As the article tells it, Trump got bored watching Michael - yes, that terrible film with John Travolta as an angel - and decided to watch Jean-Claude Van Damme's Bloodsport instead.
"(He) got bored and switched to an old favorite, a Jean Claude Van Damme slugfest called Bloodsport, which he pronounced 'an incredible, fantastic movie.' By assigning to his son (Eric Trump) the task of fast-forwarding through all the plot exposition - Trump’s goal being 'to get this two-hour movie down to forty-five minutes' - he eliminated any lulls between the nose hammering, kidney tenderizing, and shin whacking."
Being sick and getting my tax return back has led to a lot of movie watching for me lately
Surprising no one, the extended cuts of Lord of the Rings are still extremely good movies. 5/5
Terminator: Dark Fate was way better than I expected, and probably better than it has any right to be. Definitely the only post-Judgment Day Terminator film to have any fucking clue what to do with Arnold. 4/5
Detective Pikachu is a movie so delightful that I managed to not be sick of Ryan Reynolds for a period of time. I really hope we get more Pokemon movies with this tone and feel. 4.5/5
Godzilla: King of the Monsters has some very high highs, but it's missing something in the connective tissue. 3.5/5
Zombieland: Double Tap is the sequel to Zombieland. In lieu of a rating out of five, I give it Exactly One (1) Zombieland
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is a deeply fucking stupid movie. It is a hideous misuse of almost all the talent involved in it, and it is the worst Fast & Furious movie. 1/5
Lastly, KNIVES OUT is a mother fucking movie that I am probably about to watch again right now. I am so angry at myself for not seeing this in a theater. Holy shit, KNIVES OUT. 6/5
he said they should have given it to gone with the wind
Shit. I thought you were joking.
Wait, what?
Is this really that surprising? Yes it makes no sense but if you assume he put that thought together based on half-listening to people tell him what he should mention during his rally it makes perfect sense.

It’s a movie that romanticizes antebellum South.
Of course he tosses it a token bone.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Honestly, I bet he just mentioned it because it's the first super famous movie with some clout he could come up with, and thinks it makes him sound intellectual by saying it deserves an award.

It....it did get an award.
It won best picture at the oscars the year it came out.

That Big Trouble In Little China remake sure will suck when Jack Burton isn't allowed to lose any fight.

bonus points if there are gorillas involved
and then he'd say "now THIS, I like"
I refuse to believe that he has the attention span for a single shot from the sequence in Taken 3 where Liam Neeson climbs the fence.

He absolutely just picked a movie he's heard of, he doesn't know anything about it
One of his entourage brought it up during the same conversation where Trump found out about Parasite and he didn't pay attention to the context.

Which is also a dumbfuck thing to say but slightly differently so
They can't smell what he's cooking?
