Ok, gentlemen, this presents problems. I'm certainly don't mean to blame anyone for being away, it's not something you can or should avoid, but our reserve bench is pretty thin at this point, and mid-game recruiting is a challenge. Do we need to do another recess until Stew_Stick and/or Gumpy return? Would we really come back after it, or have we reached a stalemate in this game? Would it best to call this one and start a new one at some point in the future?
I'd like to keep it going, especially since Mad Jazz and Kayne Red Robe have only just gotten a chance to get their feet wet, but starting and stopping for people's schedules may make maintaining a good game rhythm prohibitively difficult. If we stop at this point, victory will go to the player with the greatest number of supply centers, unless you all collectively decide to an allied victory (lame! :P).
Please let me know your thoughts. If anyone out there is reading this and is interesting in taking over either France or Germany, please let us know. At very least, I hope everyone will send in orders for Fall 1907 (due tomorrow at 10), and we'll be able to assess where we stand at year's end.

I will kindly offer my services to play France or Germany until either Gumpy or Stew-Stick returns!

In all seriousness, I have no problem with taking another hiatus, if that's what it takes to keep this game running. Despite my complaining, I'd feel like it was a cheap victory if we just call the game when I only have 12 supply centers. There's a lot more game to be played here.
Basically, I'm willing to do whatever it takes not to have to call this game early. If other suggestions aren't feasible, then I guess we'll just have to stop, but I don't think we should abandon this game.
Ok gang, well if people will come back to it, I'll keep the game running. (I had visions of Gumpy disappearing into the forests of Bavaria never to return.) It looks like we will have another week-long ceasefire after this weekend; Gumpy and Stew_Stick, if you could please include provisional build / retreat orders or otherwise designate a proxy to carry them out for you, we'll make sure things are taken care of in your absence.
Ok, so it looks like we will be taking a recess after this weekend in light of Gumpy and Stew_Stick's breaks. Assuming everyone still has an interest in continuing, after this weekend's builds and retreats, I think we will be pausing for a week and resuming play again with Spring 1908 orders due April 14th. I will send you PMs and post in this thread again confirming the details as soon as everyone looks to be back from their trips.

New Current Map: Fall 1907 (Retreat Phase)
Retreat orders are due no later than 10 PM EST Saturday (April 5th).
Details for the relevant retreating parties should be in PMs you will receive shortly. Building will follow immediately after I've received the last retreat order and will end no later than 10 PM Sunday. After builds, we will recess until Gumpy and Stew_Stick return from their vacations — I don't have an exact date from Gumpy yet but assuming his vacation is exactly a week, that'll mean Spring 1908 orders come due Tuesday April 14th. Reminders will be sent, and if everyone still wants to keep this going, we will be back on.
Oops, my apologies for not getting back to this yesterday. Gumpy did not send in a retreat order so his fleet in the Mid-Atlantic has fled to the random destination of ... North Africa.
Stew_Stick is the only one with a build this winter season and he's not going to be around for another week, I believe, so we might as well put that on hold as well. Again, when he and Gumpy are back, we will reconvene for (hopefully uninterrupted) play at a future date.
Sorry guys, I've dropped the ball on this one! Work decided to completely bone me over the last week and a half or so, and I've been working mostly doubles since then. However, a hiatus until I can get the bosses to stop scheduling me like this is perfect, so I should be ready to go when we resume.
Still waiting on word from Gumpy and Stew_Stick as to when they'll be back, but I'll post announcements on return status and send out alerts when I have more.
Indications are all players are back in the country and at their computers. Therefore we are set to resume play with Spring 1908 orders due Tuesday, April 15th at 10 PM EST.
Everyone is requested to please post once publicly in the thread to confirm for all other players that you are active. Failure to do so by 10 PM EST Monday may result in the game being put on hold until we can positively confirm everyone's participation status.
Note: The updated current map for Spring 1908 should be up shortly, sorry for the delay on that.

In refreshing yourself with the map, please note France's (randomly assigned) retreat from the Mid-Atlantic to North Africa, and Germany's army build in Berlin (the only build this year, since one of his units was destroyed in an attack but no supply centers changed hands in 1907).
We are halfway to confirmed full participation, but I still need to hear from Gumpy, Mad Jazz, and Kayne Red Robe in the thread here.
For now, plan for orders for the current season (spring 1908) to be due Tuesday at 10 PM EST. I should emphasize that, like always, you are welcome to send in as many sets of orders as you like prior to the deadline; I will only use the last set.

I love the smell of chemical weapons in the trenches. Smells like... vict'ry.
And we're back! Thank you all for returning, especially the long-suffering but ever-conscientious about sending in orders Varcayn of England. Hopefully we will get some good uninterrupted play going from here on out. While I am happy to keep playing, at some point I will probably announce an end date for this, if it looks like things are devolving into stalemate. If that's the case, the ruler with the most supply centers will be the winner. The game still has a lot of potential dynamics left in it I think, so I won't shut things off unless we go several turns without clear progress to the elimination of another player or the capture of supply centers. Just throwing that out there to give you a little more impetus in your campaigning, and to assure you that as drawn-out as it's been, this game won't interfere with your summer holidays (I think).

I don;t think much of the balance of power in this Anglo-Italian alliance. Varacyn, after fighting your soldiers in battle, I think that what would suit them best would be a nice mutinous course of action against your Italian oppressors.
Russia armies overrun the German toehold in the far north! Badly homesick British lads return to Edinburgh to replenish their supplies of tea and scotch! Italians spotted sneering over coffee in Paris! Combined Franco-German fleet drives Italy from the Atlantic! Stalemate in Austria! Turkish army decimated in the Balkans!!
Thanks to everyone for sending their orders in well on time. Here are the results in detail...

Ah crap, I missed the highlighting in Norway. I'll fix this tomorrow when I have more time, but to be clear, that's a German fleet that has to retreat, and a Russian army replacing it.

New Current Map: Fall 1908 (Retreat Phase)
Details will be sent to the relevant party in a separate PM. If I do not receive retreat orders by deadline, I will assign a random adjacent province as the retreating army's destination. As soon as I receive all retreats we will proceed to the Winter 1908 build phase, which will end no later than 10 PM Sunday.
