Nintendo just doesn't do conferences anymore, they do a special Direct (which is basically just a cheaper, easier way to do a conference) and they absolutely have a booth there
Sega isn't going this year, and Nintendo just isn't showing Zelda
Last year's Direct was by far the best conference at the show. A well-paced, information-dense show where the only padding was entertaining sketches. I would be really happy for the other big guys to take a similar approach in the future.
there's that one guy who used to do Microsoft's video marketing materials, the most enthusiastic exectutive, I forget his name. He's retired now and owns an NBA team I think?

Well, Samus just got a World of Nintendo action figure, and there's an upcoming Metroid. Considering it's just Mario and Zelda figures other than that (counting DK as Mario related) that says there's at least someone who still gives a damn about Metroid.
I will totally give the Splatoon demo a shot if they have one tomorrow

Having just won the closest game of Kirby's Dream Course imaginable, this is definitely not true.
