    Yup.

Ah well. I'll just mooch it off a friend's account. It's not supposed to be super long anyway :P.

    What country are you from?

I'm a Spaniard. Apparently most of Europe gets locked out of a bunch of games on Nuuvem now, I'm reading? It's a pity, I bought a fair amount of games in that page back in the day.

I mean, they have XCOM 2 preorder for 20 euro. That's low enough to make one reconsider the whole "no buying preorders" policy.

Are you using a VPN? I've used the cheap method that is the Hola extension (Firefox/Chrome), go via Brazil or Argentina and do it that way. Otherwise it locks me out of stuff to the point of not even showing it for sale. But using Hola, it'll still accept my UK card and assuming the game doesn't have a region lock warning on its page (helpfully dsplayed in red, at least with their old page layout), the keys have redeemed just fine too.

I should probably look into an VPN, yeah. I was just grumbling because it was never necessary before.

I'd say just use Hola. Just remember to turn it off when you're done using it. There was some controversy a little while back about how it works, and potential security concerns, but I've found it to be useful little tool for quite a few things. It's free, too.

Yeah, but Hola's bad for using your computer as an endpoint for other people, or for using your computer as part of a botnet... Personally, I'll just pay the asking price for my region instead of messing with that.

    Damn you. Damn you!

But how many purple S+'s do you have, eh? EH?

It's funny how easy earlier levels have gotten, going back to try S+ing them with other Androids. It's a bit weird learning timing and distance differences, but it almost feels unfair waltzing through stage 1.

Also for real I don't think I've ever been this high up any leaderboard on Steam. I like this game a ton.

Umm...none. I haven't even beaten the game yet. I try to S+ stages, give up, get to the boss and S+ the boss. It looks like I'm on the final stretch though, all Coral all the way.

Edit: Sadly I think our high place in the leaderboards are mostly due to how early after release this is, you'll have some pro players or whatever come in and destroy the leaderboards as games go on but hey at least it wasn't as broke as Day 1 of the Gauntlet leaderboards.

Edit 2: Ha Shadowrun Triple Bundle on the Humble Store for $25. If it were cheaper I'd expect HyphyKezzy to be bombing people left and right.

A few days after I started using Hola, I found myself IP blocked from craigslist. A day or two later it came out about the whole botnet thing and I promptly removed that extension from Chrome. Would've been nice to use it for Netflix streaming, but oh well.

DO NOT USE HOLA. the way it works is that it uses your pc as a gateway for other people using hola, and you use other people's pc's connection to use their country's stuff. If someone were to use your pc to do "bad stuff" online it would show as your search or whatever. Do not do not do not do not use Hola, it can be seriously dangerous.

It's very Shadow of the Colossus. You have a character who is comparatively slow, fighting things that kill you in like three hits tops. So it's all about positioning yourself carefully and finding the blind spots of the big bastards.

Well that knocks it down a considerable amount of pegs then.

FYI, credit cards are crazy safe because of the amount of legal protections built into them. For example, you are not responsible for any unauthorized charges if someone steals your credit card number.

Also some banks will sell gift cards that are basically debit cards but under the umbrella of Visa or MasterCard so that it will work the same as a credit card as long as you don't go over the limit you prepaid for.

I have gotten them as gift cards before and the work pretty much anywhere.

Edit: Also they may be refillable! So you could gamble with $50 or whatever and then recharge it when you run out!

I mean Ive honestly only ever had two problems with online purchases in the last 20 years and they both cost me nothing.

First time is my package didn't arrive and I got a refund.

Second time someone got a hold of my credit card number and tried to make a big purchase. The bank caught it before I even knew about it, cancelled that card so a repeat problem could not occur, and sent me a new card with a new number. And also called me to let me know what had happened.

Banks are crazy how they know things. I went on a trip to Japan without telling them. Didn't have any problems at all. A few days after I got back I got a call saying "there was some suspicious activity on your account so we have frozen the card."

Me: no I was in Japan but it's all good

Bank: no that's not the activity. Did you happen to buy a $3000 kayak over the phone from [city an hour away] yesterday?"

    Me:... No...

Bank: we didn't think so. We froze the transaction and will cancel the card. We have to investigate but you are not under suspicion. We should have a new card to you in about 3 days.

I'm still confused how Japan didn't flag the card but kayak in a nearby town did. I didn't even use the card to buy my tickets.

Yeah I suppose it's probably early days, still! We're like top 50/10,000 on some of these.

Also stage S+ becomes so much easier when you turn on pro-mode auto-restarts. It turns it into one very long stage, kind of? You learn much more smoothly.

I actually find the bosses more annoying to perfect. I get to the point where 4/5 or 7/8 of the forms I can easily get through and then the last one proves a bit of trouble and I need to restart. With stages, things feel much more moment-to-moment and mutable, so replaying is less frustrating.

Either way though yeah I think I'm going to have to try to purple the heck out of this game.

My brother once got into a huge arguement in high school because our local subway had issues with their card reader, so after ordering a sandwich, he attempted to pay with his card. The clerk then took the card and started writing down the number.

My brother, with a school counselor in line behind him, got into a long winded arguement trying to explain why the clerk could simply enter the number straight from the card instead of writing it down.

I forget how it ended, but was laughing myself into the fetal position at this point.

Actually about the mid stages are the hardest, by the end I usually have a fully powered Coral and my shotgun and plasma fields are doing stupid amounts of damage. I just quickly hit the back button on my 360 when I hear the shatter from losing the S+ which is quick enough for me. I'll pass on buying anything from the credits store until I've beaten the game first though I did take a look.

The problem with getting an S+ with the later stages with Coral is if I missed a guy that I need to kill to proceed with the level then it's almost always too late to make up my mistake--I can't get close enough to kill them in time. I've lost kill chains due to firing my shotgun a little too far away due to the second it takes for new robots to populate the board.

I found out about some suspicious charges on my debit card (being used as a credit card) just earlier this week. My credit union is getting the charges reversed and having a new card issued to me ASAP. As long as your financial institution isn't terrible (and you have another card you can use while one is being replaced) it's actually pretty painless to get taken care of.

Well okay, that's also assuming you've got enough money in your account that several hundred dollars going missing isn't cleaning it out entirely.

I literally use a credit card for every purchase online. The only convenience fee's I can even think of are Ticketmaster (and that's a fee on the ticket) and out of country payment processors. Hell, even the second one is declining, I used to have a small charge when I purchased games on GOG because it was a foreign transaction, but that hasn't been the case in years.

Paypal might have some convenience fees, but nowadays I'm pretty sure they're just relegated to eBay purchases, and even then they seem to come out of the seller. Otherwise I use my CC tied to Paypal and select the CC when I use paypal to pay for something like the Humble Bundle.

I loved Holly best when I played Assault Android Cactus (back in 2013!), but I think there's like 4 more moppets now than there were then. I was never good at the game but I had fun with it. I should probably reinstall it one of these days.

That is a problem with debit cards as credit cards that pure credit cards don't have. As you point out, it's completely dependent upon how good your financial institution is.

Oh I agree, it was. I'm not such a fan of the high difficulty of only screwing up twice, however.

There is, like, no penalty for death, though. The respawn time is fast, the checkpoint is right at the boss, and there's no real long-term consumables to lament the loss of or experience lost.

It pretty much only pops up for me if I want to pay my rent or utilities online. For rent the "convenience" fee is $35 and utilities would be $5 every month.

You absolutely should. The amount of polish that has been slathered all over this game since then is nuts.

Oh hey. Kitty Pryde is out today for Marvel Heroes. 15% off through Steam (I assume also on sale through the game itself).

    TEMPTING.

Edit: she has a firebreathing mini dragon pet? Gaaaaaaaaaaaa---

Woohoo! Looks like I will have actual time to play some games tonight! Anyone feel like returning to a little FNG tonight? (That's "Friday Night Gaming" for any of the new people). I'm up for just about anything but a short list of things that I think would be lots of fun include:

    Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine
    Forced
    Broforce
    Burnout Paradise
    Gauntlet
    Grim Dawn
    Hawken
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
    Borderlands: TPS
    Minimum
    Red Faction Gorilla
    Rise of the Triad
    Smallworld 2
    Sniper Elite 3
    SpeedRunners
    Talisman
    The Witcher Adventure Game
    Wickland

I would love to see a return of FNG. I would love to have a twitch stream of FNG, cause "I work on Friday nights!"

    /me crys in corner.

I might convince Mrs. Alure to let me join in, but soonest I can be there is 9PM PST, and not this week.
