Medali gym went down easy, probably didn't need to grind quite as much as I did by the Center in the mountain pass. Giganacl seems designed to make this one easy, resists Starapter's Normal and Flying moves and learns Hammer Arm on evolution.

Gonna evolve my Tinkatuff on the way to the Dragon titan.

Does the movement have to be constant? Like, do they have to be constantly moving without stopping at all? I don't mean being recalled into poke ball, but perpetually in motion.

It's cumulative, no need for constant motion or to feel like they need to take 1k steps all in one go.

But you do need to do the entire 1k steps in a single "outing." If you do 500 steps, recall the Pokemon, send them back out, do another 600 steps, it still won't be enough.

What I do to evolve them - walk the 1000 steps. Keep them out, do not put them away or run to try to get into fights as this has the possibility of despawning them. While they're out in lets go mode, use a rare candy on them. Do this all in one sitting without any extra stuff in between.

Yeah, my Pawmi evolved and I run around forcing recalls and recall to respawn constantly. It may have made it take longer but it still worked

The best tactic I've heard is to go to the top of a tower and run around since there's not enough space for the Poke to be recalled you don't have to worry about letting them catch up.

Just run circles around the little jerks

I can’t believe they gave that requirement to some of the slowest walkers in the game. It couldn’t have been the mechanic for Varoom, nooo.

For the step evolutions i just went to the schools track field and walked around the course 6 or so times.

I stood on top of a Pokecenter. Bramblin spun in circles right underneath trying to path to me... 1k steps ez.

Logged in to maybe do some raids, turbo-failed a couple 5 star with online people. C'mon game freak, this isn't even fun. People weren't even doing stupid things honestly, maybe their stuff was just under-leveled. So frustrating that online is mostly failure, and solo is a crap shoot too because the NPCs can totally suck.

Failed every raid, quit the game and don't even really feel like trying them any more.

You know what maybe i don't want to do this raid.

For the walk evolutions just send one out and hop in a pokemon center roof they walk in circles trying to get to you.

They're advertised as giving a variety of tera shards which are pretty hard to come by. No ability patch drops though..bah.

The bonus shards are only on the 5*. As far as I can see, the only reason to do the 3/4 is they’re just incredibly easy to clear them out.

The five-star Delibirds give you five shards each of three random types, in addition to the shards you get as normal raid drops. If you wanted to put a competitive team together, Tera Shards are the big grindy roadblock, so now is a great time to stock up.

Is there any chance I could persuade one of the resident scarlet version havers to hook me up with a Flutter Mane, and touch-trade a Koraidon? (Or regular trade for my Miraidon, if you prefer, whatever.) I'm trying to get the shiny charm and miming at which pokemon I'm after over random link trades can only go so far!

There's a set of trade codes you can use for version exclusives, it's how I got most of the Violet ones. I'd offer to trade you them myself but I still haven't caught my backup Koraidon and I don't have time while visiting my family this weekend.

I hesitate to link because the site's garbage, but here:

    https://www.dexerto.com/pokemon/pokemon-scarlet-violet-trade-codes-1997432/

Basically, the codes are the Dex numbers of the trade pairs. So if you want to trade Sprigatito and Fuecoco (either direction) you put in 0001-0004. Might have to check a few times before you get someone with the opposite game, but it worked well enough for me.

What madman decided to make a Pokémon not just inspired by Godzilla, but also designed around an attack that parodies the goofiest moment in the weirdest Godzilla movie?

    xjh0vis80i14.jpg

It's so specific it's bizarre. It's a whole Pokémon designed around one scene in one Godzilla movie to make the silliest thing Godzilla ever did even more ridiculous. Fucking madness.

EDIT: I just realized that the designer probably thought it was silly that Godzilla could fly but still thought the concept of Godzilla rocketing his spines into a monster was cool, so he tried to brainstorm ideas to make it work on the ground and came up with "what if he was sliding on ice?," which is why Baxcalibur is an Ice-Type.

Completed my Dex. Couldn't wait for the wife to finish Violet to trade me all the exclusives, so I just did my own "speed"run of it.

Let's just say that "Cutscenes Off" setting is useless.

Thank you, yes, I did manage to get the dex completed over the holiday break with this method (though, tbh, using the codes wasn't much different than just linking randomly and hoping the other player had the right game version and would get the hint, still took a couple of days to grab the two mons I needed!)

I did notice whilst breeding for pokedex completion that you don't seem to need to actually do anything in order to get eggs to show up at your picnics, like, it's not counting steps or anything, if I just leave the game idling for a bit will it produce eggs endlessly, or does it hit a limit at some point, does anyone know?

  • initiatefailureinitiatefailure Registered User regular
I don’t know if there’s a limit but I did set the controller down for a bit one time and collected like 7-10ish eggs at once.

The other thing I’m not entirely sure is if they’ll still make eggs slower or not at all without egg power food

So this game definitely has troubs.

But I gotta sat, being able to venture off with level 25 pokemon and 2 badges to catch the Pseudo-legendaru of the game and actually get to raise it on my adventure?

    Thats the best thing ever!

None of that catching it 7 badges in, where it evolves after 1 battle and then has to catch up on levels nonsense anymore! I have a baby ice dragon and she's along for the journey!

Finally finished the main story, which has handily overthrown Sun/Moon as my favorite in the franchise.
I had called the game's Professor being a villain, but them having been killed by a Pokémon they pulled to the present through an automated time machine and survived by a robotic clone that thinks their creator was mad but has no choice other than to serve as an extension of their creator's will beyond death was fucking nuts. Then after you beat the robot it tries to pretend to be the original Professor expressing remorse to comfort Arven only for it to get forcibly controlled again to use the very Pokemon that killed its creator against you, after which the AI flings itself through time since its presence is required for the machine to work. Jeez, that was wild.

The payoff for the legendary was phenomenal as well. Noticing Koraidon had appeared in the Pokémon menu after my other Pokémon were locked was really cool.

I'm curious what the DLC will introduce and what will be followed up on. Will we learn the truth behind Terastilization?

Perfect, that's all good info, thanks! I wanna run an all-shiny team for next time I play through the game (after pokemon home access is opened up at least) but I still wanna use one of the other starters, sounds like grinding through eggs is a lot less involved than in previous games.
Though actually I don't have a non-english ditto, come to think of it, I'm so used to having a bunch from SwSh handy! Guess I need to source one of those too.

That feeling when you manage to break the raid AI (not that raids being broken is a new thing :P)

I had a 6* ghost tera Kingsgambit which was giving me all kinds of problems because dark/steel counters most of my raid core (note to self, need more options than fairy/ghost mons...) and fighting flat out won't work on him due to ghost type. He was also spamming Thunder Wave constantly which just lead to even games where I didn't get blasted I'd die to timer thanks to missed turns (I came closest on Skeledirge but Torch Song just did way too little damage even with the boosts and Shadow Ball was semi useless once he shielded).

Finally had the idea to use Gholdengo. I don't think the programmers accounted for this one... while he wouldn't cast Thunder Wave against my Iron Hands because electric type, he DID see Gholdengo as a fair target despite "Good as Gold" making him immune to status effects. The AI must have been coded to always cast Thunder Wave if there wasn't a paralyze on the target or the target wasn't electric because that's literally all he did. He kept trying to Thunder Wave me over and over and over, no actual attacks what-so-ever (he did swords dance once :P). Was laughing pretty hard.

Incidentally, FFS please fix raids. I'm so god damn sick of the boss's HP constantly ping-ponging from 0 to half over and over. I'm sick of desync issues where I revive from being dead with only 10 hp (I can only assume I was hit by an attack the game didn't even show) and then get killed before I can even get one attack off. Or issues where he's removed my buffs about a minute before the game bothers to tell me (but he can get attacks in during that time of course! So no chance to brace for having my defense buffs missing). I'm sick of not being able to input commands for 2 minutes because I have to wait for about 20 dialog boxes to get out of the way... *sigh* It's so frustrating. Like legit, this has become the biggest issue of the game for me, even over the shit performance. I would rather take the 2 fps lake over this shit (but seriously why the hell does that lake lag so bad? It's like only when you're in the water too - what, are the splash animations super high fidelity? :P).
