Looks good as a game, but I don't get why FC2 looks like it has West African building styles in a seemingly East African landscape.
Trust me, I've been there.
This is not an issue in a world that is loosely based on Africa, rather than a world that is meant to BE Africa.
EDIT: Anyways, this game looks pretty good. I want to catch fire to the entire world.
The fires in Far Cry 2 aren't very realistic. They spread too fast and go out way too quickly.
Trust me, I've been there.
Is that ultimately a bad thing, though? I haven't played it of course, but it sounds like that would be a more game friendly way to go about using fire.

Because the people in East Africa built houses to match the ones in west africa.
kinda like how there is a mosque half a mile from my apartment, people can copy buildings.
He's talking about the tribal looking village, which is distinctly west African (specifically, Dogon) and I doubt that people building a new village in East Africa would decide to copy the dated architecture of a tribe hundreds of miles away. Still, the setting could be West African. There's savannah over there too.
In the hands-on that I linked, they state that it's not set in any specific area because firstly they didn't want to risk bringing real-world politics into things, but also there was no one set location that covered all the types of land and architecture that they wanted to bring in.

I dont think mutant alien monsters that turn invisible make a lot sense either but those exist in Far Cry.

It doesn't take place in Africa so it's a non-issue.
It's a fictional place based on Africa that looks like a variety of different African environments, but it's still not Africa.

But how can you be sure they don't exist? They're invisible.

So this will could probably use a new thread, especially as the title talks about tropical islands. Far Cry 2 is clearly not set on a tropical island.
Anyway, the reason for my bumping this is because Eurogamer got their hands on a recent build, and wrote lots of interesting things about it. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=176347
I can't be doing with copying it all over, or extracting the important stuff, but basically it sounds like a completely kickass game and I'm now waiting to see what kind of specs will make it sing, so I can build a new pc.
late edit: Guess who didn't read the OP!

The title talks about tropical islands, but did you read the OP?
I downloaded it, and installed it, made an ubi.com account, and started the install... and got a message saying you must live in the US to play this game. I found that odd, since I do live in the US. Turns out this was an older promotional thing. Downloading it now will get you exactly nowhere unless you're willing to apply a crack or something.
Not really? Crysis was very much on a tropical island. Far Cry 2 covers a large variety of African environments.
When I see savanna, I don't think tropical island, for one.
You don't seem to understand
the graphics, as in STYLE, TECH and DESIGN looks almost identical. I'm not talking about content here. Like the dude above me said, this is not necessarily a bad thing. I was just suprised to see them look so similiar.
If I had no knowledge of FC2, and someone told me this was an expansion pack to Crysis, I'd totally believe it
If anything it reminds me of STALKER, hope they manage to nail the atmosphere like GSC did.

I...
I've changed my mind. I want this. A lot.
Whoever said it reminds them of Crysis, the only thing I could see similar was the gun recoil physics and positioning and the animation.
That's....pretty much it. If that's gameplay video, it blows Crysis out of the water in every other department imaginable, much like Crysis did to Farcry 1.

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.

Guess that answers any questions.

I never asked for this!

With both this and Psi-Ops available, I am very happy indeed.

Yeah me too. Family farm was on the edge of a nature reserve. Multiple scares.
Far too fast without any heavy wind.
I just realised that I played through Far Cry 1 on realistic, so I may get at least one enjoyable playthrough of this.

They did the same thing with Tomb Raider Anniversary.

And Lewie, the intro to the trailer said it got quite a few. Who knows if they're telling the truth though.
assassin's creed and all that
also some of those environments looked bitchin' cool
Completely different kind of game from crysis. It's an open world game, kind of like GTA: Afrika

So want a good PC for this now.
Seriously, not cool.
