This is really good, and the summary at least is very clearly written.
I especially like that when you actually include all the things McCain talks about, we lose $7 trillion (3 odd trillion more than he claims), while if you listen to Obama his total comes to $2.6 trillion (400 billion better than he claims).
I'm really glad Biden got the nod. Sure, I would've given you guys the finger and gone running off into the sunset if it was Reed, but Biden is hands down the best pick.
And I love that the meme revolving around him is "ololol gaffes." You know how you defeat that? It's only three fucking months. If he doesn't make a gaffe, boom, beats expectations. And he'd probably doing so while being funny and charming and a great attack dog.

Huggle!
That's really the best meme. If he does make a gaffe, it's just "Biden being Biden".
Man, DeaconBlues defected to the SE++ politics thread? No fun. Oh well, back to the circle jerk.
He started there. Well, actually, he started back with the original politics megathread here, went there, came back here, and returned once again.
Special note: He quit here around the same time I put up posts of his complaining people weren't being serious and complaining people should screw around. So... send me a pie.
No, Quid. Essentially, I got deservedly yellow-carded and realized that I don't have the ability to take the level of shit I get here without responding in kind and getting slapped down again. So, I'd eventually get banned or jailed, and frankly, that's not worth it just to prove that some of you are the liberal version of me.
It's pretty refreshing (although not technically an effective debate tactic) to go off on someone's mom when they are being stupid, I invite you all to come give it a try sometime :P
I disagree with the Biden "gaffe machine" meme. He's blunt and definitely has a low tolerance for BS sure. But his "gaffes" are generally true if ineloquently put.

I'm not convinced he actually has a substantially higher gaffe rate than other politicians. I mean, he never called anyone bitter.

I don't think this has been posted yet...Dick Lugar's response to the Biden pick:
I congratulate Senator Barack Obama on his selection of my friend, Senator Joe Biden, to be his vice-presidential running mate. I have enjoyed for many years the opportunity to work with Joe Biden to bring strong bipartisan support to United States foreign policy.
The Obama people need to make an ad for Indiana featuring that quote along with Lugar's praise for Obama. Lugar is a demigod in these parts*; I'm convinced that an ad by Lugar praising the Democratic ticket could bring a few extra percent in Indiana.
*He's serving his 7th term in the Senate. All of his wins since the mid-80s have been by 35 points or more; he won reelection in 2006 with 87% of the vote.
A surprise announcement came at a press conference called by presidential hopeful Barack Obama yesterday. After weathering a torrent of applause with a wide grin, Obama stunned the gathered reporters by announcing McCain as his running mate.
"Look, even McCain knows he cannot win against me," Obama stated matter-of-factly, "so I'm announcing him as my VP pick."
Obama then turned to face the cameras directly and in the stunned silence said, "McCain, lay down thy arms and start printing up McCain <3s Obama plackards and get your cronies to walk around carrying them. Thank you."
Obama then left the stage and refused to answer questions.
This is a great day. I doubt even winning the election would top this.
I'm pretty sure it will.
I remember the night of Indiana/North Carolina pretty fondly.
The night of the election 2006 was one of the best times I've ever had on the forum, and was amazing just on it's own merits. This has the potential to be so much better.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh yes, that was pretty delicious.
Since when do they hold these press conferences at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?
That video was worth it for the look on Sharpton's face
Does he disapprove of AIDS testing? Is he unhappy anyone else is talking to black people?
What exactly crawled up his butt?
I'm sure it was just taken out of context, but it almost seemed implied that Biden though the AIDS/condom issue was a black issue what with the "black sections of my city" and then singling out the black candidate as having been tested for HIV.

I'm not sure emulating Cheney is a great idea.
Not that Cheney isn't an absolutely upstanding individual.

edit: All of this is over 10 years.
WhaaChaa!
He was in charge of the VP search committee. And he chose himself.

Which, as much as I hate him, is admittedly awesome. How the hell did that conversation work exactly?
Bush sure knew how to pick evil geniuses.
Bush, "So Cheny who should my VP be."
Cheny, "Me."
Bush,".....BRILLIANT"

Seems like I made the right choice, enjoy the echo chamber!
Always one thoughtless cookie craving away . . .

Need to give away those cookie jars before somebody finds out.
I know who McCain's VP will be. ^
Jack Ryan?
Too bad he's presently under the influence of a gay bomb.

I'd vote for Jack.
Well, he likes Elizabeth Kucinich, he has my vote.
Excellent idea, loses points for execution. Needs to either only have 7 house, or to have an ambiguous number of houses (a pile maybe?).

I think he's offended that Obama is stooping so low as to consort with the evil whites.
Only black people can lecture black people!
Sharptons an ass.

Not even that is ok in Sharpton's eyes. Remember the whole "cut off his balls" live mic incident? Twas because Obama was talking to black people.
Sharpton is the only person allowed to talk to black people.
That was Jesse Jackson, dude.
