[WoW] Paladins: Your tears sustain our 30min seals
Misinformation found below:
EDIT: Working on updating this page to have actual useful misinformation instead of the wrong kind.
Paladins:
Can do anything.
Anything?
Yes anything!
DPSadin builds:
Ret-PVP base buildRet-PVERet-PVE with Divine Sacrifice
Tanking delicousness:
Prot-PV..uh...E?
Healadin:
Holy-PVE*
Holy-PVP
Hints, tips, and cheats:
Ret-PVE:
Spell Rotation:
FCFS:
This basically says that you should use whatever is off cooldown first, most people argue for Judgement > CS > Consecration > DS > Exorcism > Holy Wrath
Seal/Judge:
Seal of Blood/Martyr is our money making seal, Judging in raid situations is up to you. You may find yourself needing more mana, or wanting to claim bragging rights to being number #2 on healing and dps meters...in that case judge wis/life as appropriate.
Stats:
Str: Strongest stat to our dps.
Hit Rating: Get to 263 then dont worry about this stat.
Expertise: Nice to have but really not manditory. Cap is at 214.
Crit: Behind Str on importance, but you really can't have too much of it.
Everything else: Dont worry about everything else.
Ret-PVP:
I'm not entirely strong on PVP but basics:
1. Keybind something to every key
2. Purchase Kitty
3. Let said kitty do nothing on keyboard
4. ???
5. Profit
Stats:
Stats are about the same, only gemming for Resil is a pretty good idea
Seals/Judge:
Use
this seal:
Judging is more favored with light....you know....for heals and such.
Tanking:
Roations follow the 9696 rule, meaning that most of your c/ds have either a 9 or a 6 second c/d. Your job is to ensure that nothing is off cooldown round about the same time. Threat generation if you are even remotely decent geared is easy. There are some fights that are a bit harder for us on threat (meaning we actually have to try...instead of falling asleep on the keyboard). This can be solved using your hand of OHSHIT THEY ARE PULLING THREAT...or by having shitty dps.
Glyphs
Major:
Glyph of Divine PleaGlyph of Hammer of the RighteousGlyph of JudgementGlyph of ConsecrationGlyph of Seal of Vengeance/CorruptionStats:
Spellpower: Dont be that guy....nobody likes that guy.
Defense: Current Def number is 540. 535 if you just want to do heroics. More defense never hurt anyone though.
Stam: Your #2 stat, and actually covers your threat. Talent in Prot tree called Touched by the Light(in naughty places) will cover majority of your threat building needs and it derives all its power from stam.
Most guilds will only look at 2 things in tanks.
1. Defense capped?
2. HP
So, while your dodge/parry/hit/expertise/str and other such stats are nice, those two should be your main focus, unless you are going to a fairly intelligent guild, in which case start to look for those other stats.
Parry...when given the option is pretty weak. Also hit helps a bit for threat, but worry more about defensive stats if you're new and taking advice from this thread.
Seals/Judge:
Seal for most threat is Seal of Corruption/Vengance. If you don't like your healers use seal of blood/martyr for some funsies.
Judgements are up to you in most cases.
Want to show up on the healing meter? Judge light.
Low on Mana? Judge Wis. Although you really shouldn't be low on mana. Divine Plea should now be perma active.
Holy PVE:
Rotation isn't really there. Although healing for us is no longer keybinding FoL to everything and playing something else while we have a mashfest on the keyboard.
Glyphs:
TBD
Stats:
Int: Possibly the #1 stat to go for as it contributes to a few things. Bigger mana pool and bigger crits.
Mp5: No reason to go out of your way to get it, but we'll see how that changes. It will come on a decent amount of your gear anyways.
Crit: Your number 2 stat to go for.
Judge/Seal:
Only reason to judge is to get the benifit of 15% cast time increase from Judgements of the Pure. Judging light vs. mana depends on the number of pallies around.
New OP thread for the OP class gogo!

It's obviously slower than Ret, but I found it pretty doable. Holy Shock, Judgements and shield slam of holiness do okay damage. Some people like to have a damaging seal like Righteousness or Cor/Ven on, but I found that having Seal of Wisdom on and Judging Wisdom is a great way to never ever go out of mana.
I thought current FCFS was Judge > CS > DS > Consecrate > Exorcism > HW ?
And I hear that holy survivability is pretty par with Prot...
Honestly though, I'd give holy a try now. That way you are used to it when you ding 80, and don't immidiatly hate it. If you are about to ding, give it a week. If you are 77 or 78, try holy till you hit 80, then decide from 80 how you want to go.
I'm still trying my hand at ret, so I can't speak with autority on it, but that's what I've seen on EJ and I think it might vary between how many mobs you have.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: No. 3.1
What minor glyphs are holy paladin players using? I'd guess maybe might/wisdom for convenience purposes? Kings if they're speced for it (I'm not)?
:edit: but paladins, have shitty minor inscriptions in general.
Magic Online - Bertro
Sense Undead: 1% more damage is like a free talent point!
Lay on Hands: Free mana pot!
Seal of Wisdom: Uh...well I guess if you're almost totally OOM you can switch over for mana regen easier.
Granted Seal of Wis minor is extremely situational, but at least it has a real use. I mean compare that to my druid who has:
Faster Seal Form
No Reagent Rebirth
Something I don't even remember because it's so useless
None of those give real in-combat advantages. They just save a little gold or time running around.
I run with the Sense Undead, Lay on Hands, and the BoK minor myself. The BoK one comes in handy since I'm usually the kings bitch for the non-tanks in the raid and I hate burning all of my mana rebuffing.
I constantly try to re-stealth my Paladin and to refresh auras on my Rogue after fights.
I guess maybe I'll look into getting the LoH glyph, even though I never remember to use LoH when shit goes downhill.
See, I'm a big fan of the reagent-removal glyphs since I find reagents to be annoying as hell. And I'm feral spec, so the Thorns glyph was pretty handy as well. I wish I had used the Seal Form glyph while leveling, since it turns out there are quite a few quests that force you into the water. At this point it wouldn't do me much good, though.
this made me giggle

Both linked specs are cookie-cutter prot PVE, with a few unused points. Most people get Pursuit of Justice with them.
Ohhh I see. So there's little difference between Prot PvP and PvE...if there even is such a thing as Prot PvP?

Except for Benediction. Which isn't a talent a tank should be picking up.
So, 30 minute seals. I love that I don't have to worry about them any more (because I'm lazy), it wasn't really something that bothered me in the first place though. I find myself feeling sorry for warriors now, why change our 2 minute buff and not theirs?
i dont need your fucking pity
I'll just go back to dancing around with my Last Laugh in hand then.
I must say the feeling associated with being awarded the best weap in the game is great. Now to wait a week so I can get good deeps figures with it.
/wrist
Also his armory says 1222
And who do you have to blame for that?
me
i passed it to him
but still
Question: the deadly libram is best in slot for PvE DPS yes?
I usually have a lot of fun in Wintergrasp, I also join the occasional battleground but it really depends on the bg in question for me to enjoy it. AV? Yeah. AB? Occasionally. WSG? Ugh. Eye and Strands? Meh
My 3's team rating (which was Warrior/Death Knight/Druid (me)) went from 1580 to 1710. Aaaaand I'm still wearing greens on my paladin. My druid has 21k HP self-buffed and 700 resilience... Comp FTW!
