Its a remarkably silly design decision but I wanna point out I was grumbling about it in a post that was mostly about how I was enjoying the show. So far despite what some character designs or early plot elements might have implied its not a particularly childish show nor is it in toyetic. At least not in a distracting way. Some dumb thing they can make a toy out of doesn't show up every once and awhile anyway. Its a very character focused show about a group of misfits and its alright.
EDIT- But also what's up with you guys jumping down my throat to insist that a character that is very clearly decked out in pink isn't wearing pink? Did ya'll not actually watch the show and just pull her up on google image?
The pink armor is cringey
The fact that she's the romantic interest for Ezra and the first few episodes we've watched basically have her the recipient of "Heeeeeeeeey gurl" moments from Ezra is mortifying
I just remember her always changing it and painting it and her room and parts of the ship and basically anything and they never played it off as girls do pink so much as Sabine can't stop painting
It's not great that they would canonically make the female mandalorian's armour pink.
I also know that if there were a game where I could customize my own mandalorion, my armour would be the most offensively neon pink you can imagine.

Rebels been pretty popular since the second half of the first season aired. First half is very cringey mostly because of Ezra and his kiddy blaster. As for the looks, the characters do look a bit weird and stiff and everyone seems to wear fitted clothes so they don't have to animate robes and such (basically only Vader and Kenobi have flowing clothes), but with time they build up their design asset library and it becomes better and all space and ship scenes are pretty great and awesome.
They've also made thirst even more for a game where you play as Poe (or a Poe type), exploring the galaxy and doing missions against fascists while flying a cool X-Wing

I always like Rebels. It seemed okay. There was a jarrimg turn of Ezra towards the Dark Side at one season beginning I never understood because I don't think they built up to it sufficiently, but they then addressed it, I believe.

i only recently binged rebels this past spring and only because i was told how good it was. It was not a thing on my radar at all before then. but after I finished I ended up being able to go to the star wars celebration in chicago for a day thanks to work and there were just a ton of people cosplaying sabine and it seemed just universally hailed by that crowd, but I've never been aware of how it was received by the non-superfans

I never really got the sense that Rebels was made to sell toys but Season 1 definitely has a problem of Zev, Chopper and Ezra just being real irritating.
Darth Vader has been by far the most improved character in the new canon. For a while in Legends "emo Vader" was the rage after episode 3.
Now he goes around creating his own mini-Empire to subvert the Emperor and fights Kaiju monsters and stuff.
We're hopefully starting to see the same for Luke now that RoS is being released soon.
Esp in episode 6 vader is in kind of a weird spot, he seems more like he's trapped in service to the Emperor, in his conversations with Luke he mostly just sounds tired.
And really in the OT in general Vader is rarely treated as someone who actually has a lot of agency? Like Leia mentions Tarkin holding Vader's leash in 4. Vader doesn't really come across as like the #2 guy in the Empire, he's just their enforcer.

Vader goes to the Darkside out of fear of losing everything and then he loses everything anyway. The movies don’t say but we can infer that what he wants is to be strong enough that he can’t lose anything anymore. The irony being that he’s given up really having anything. A lot of his early actions as Vader are also probably driven directly by a sense of revenge. He hates the Jedi and blames them for what happened to him and what happened to Padme so we continues to follow the only person he still considers a friend and takes the chance to murder Jedi.
For the record I don’t think the whole Tarkin holding Vader’s leash thing was accurate. I think it was just a thing Leia said to bother him. They seem to have a legitimate friendship going and the episodes of the clone wars that feature Tarkin seem to back that up.
I got the impression from ANH that there was definitely a chain of command and Vader was under Tarkin. The question being maybe he was on loan from the Emperor I guess?
As for his motivations, starting with AOTC Anakin very much desires the power to save the people he loves from dying after his mother is killed. He blames Obi-Wan (weirdly?) for holding him back from the trials, becoming a full fledged jedi, and getting off the leash to explore his full potential. If he hadn't still been an apprentice he could've saved his mother. The films don't do a great job of it but the idea is that Anakin is extremely powerful and he knows it.
Enter his visions of Padme dying. Palpatine offers him the knowledge to save her except oops he's a sith and Windu is going to kill him. If he dies he takes the power to save Padme with him so Anakin kills Windu and then... goes completely dark side.
That's kind of the weakest point of the whole thing. The lead up, while clunky, makes a lot of sense. It's his weird guilt and total, broken turn to the dark side that doesn't really play well. Had they written him to like, actually, enthusiastically embrace the dark side because he sees it as a way to save the woman he loves, become as powerful as he knows he should be, and remove an order and a system of government he sees as corrupt it would've tracked better with Vader as a henchman in the OT.
Padme dying and Palpatine putting the blame for it on him would've been a good way to set up Vader's attempts to undermine him in ESB and ultimately have his redemption in RotJ. Instead they tried to keep Anakin/Vader as the sympathetic, almost unwilling villain despite him committing mass murder, facilitating mass murder, torture, brutally killing his own underlings and being Space Hitler's right hand man.

Tarkin became the Grand Moff in ANH and was in charge of the Death Star. That effectively made him in charge of Vader while Vader was on the Death Star, even if Vader was the Emperor's right hand man.
Tarkin is the second most powerful man in the galaxy based on the influence he controls during the events of A New Hope.

The old EU has a lot of wacky or just plain bad stuff, but it's the reason I'm a Star Wars fan.
I remember annoying my mom because she got me one of the Jedi Apprentice books at the mall, which I finished in two hours and promptly asked my mom to take me back for the next one. Hell, the Solo kids are probably still my favorite characters.*
That said, I dig pretty much all of the Disney EU stuff. I haven't tried Resistance yet, but Clone Wars and Rebels contain some of the best Star Wars stories ever made and the Mandalorian is just as good.
