I 100%'d the map in Fallen Order, and the second Kashykk section is a huge pain. There's one collectible that if you miss it, you have to redo the entire chase sequence without the chase. Fairly sure it's a 20m trip.
Otherwise I did really enjoy it, but it certainly has flaws.
Got Don’t Starve Together to play with my partner.
This is one of the most tedious, least fun survival games I have ever played. Having 6 hounds raid you on day 11 and just have no possible hope of fighting them is just beyond dumb.
I have even read a guide and we cannot get the fortunate set up to survive that. I have no idea why this game is so widely praised at all.
Yep hounds are way too hard for beginners but fortunately you can remove them altogether in world settings.
I think there should be an option for new players, a recommended setting (basically vanilla, maybe? Even rain and stuff can be pretty rough if you're completely new). It often feels like that's no consideration with games like this, adding features and dlcs over time

15 fucking hounds 3 days later. We had 21 of them in the base. The world is an unlivable wasteland now.
Not very encouraged to start again tbh.
Like I get games being hard, but there is hard and then there is that.
Titan Quest got another expansion today. I didn't know that was in the works.
Huh. I thought the devs moved on to Grim Dawn and now Wolcen?
The Grim Dawn devs had nothing to do with Wolcen. They've just ported Grim Dawn to Xbox and are now doing a different game, some sort of town builder thing. They are (mostly) the same guys who made Titan Quest but not TQ's expansions.
Started Days Gone. Good shit so far. The motorcycle is squirrelly but I'll get used to it. Had some performance problems at first - lots of stuttering and hitching despite FPS never dropping under like 100. Turns out it doesn't like high framerate. Capping it at 60 has smoothed it right out. Which, you know, kind of sucks. But console ports, whatchagonnado right?
Edit: also it's the first zombie game I've played (that I can remember/think of anyway) that has zombie children. In-game they're called "newts" and they have different AI. They're generally skittish, even mostly avoiding adult zombies, act kind of pack-like, like to climb and watch you from vantage points, and generally attack only when they can get an advantage or the protag is low on health.
Ended up dropping Ruined King after 16 hours. The little things that bothered me just kept piling up. I know a lot of those things are on me, but I just felt like the game wasn’t gonna get any better.
I they make some large fixes down the road, I’d happily go back and give it a try.

I've got to say that, if anything, it was a really fun game. Basically playing through an MCU GotG movie with all the banter and jokes (and awesome eyecandy shots.) The actual gameplay itself is fairly basic, with not much going around other than shooting, ordering attacks the other Guardians and some dodging. The harder enemies are basically bullet sponges, and while there are some interactions between enemies that need you to prioritize in the middle of a fight, it's also nothing too complex. So it's passable, at best.
Even considering that, the entire game is basically filled with style, jokes, references... if you liked the GotG movies, this one is worth at least one playthrough, if not more just to choose other dialogue options.

I snagged that from black Friday GameStop. Sounds like it's a I might be able to play on the big tv without guilt as my wife enjoys GotG movies.

I haven't played it, but I hated battle chasers, and watching twitch ruined king looks too much of the same.
I wanted to like that Battle Chasers game, but it just didn't hook me at all. I'd like to see them do another game like Darksiders Genesis. Had some fun playing that co-op with a friend.

Speaking of terrible maps - grim dawn was so fucking frustrating with how much map/enemies/powers blended together in a grey/brown mass.
Also "look, where you need to go is the other side of that broken door, now go through 25 minutes of unnecessary maxing to get there"
Okay, P2P aside, Century was a thrilling experience and I'll be watching it closely and wish the devs success that will lead them to dedicated servers.
Been nose-deep in PC Building Simulator since I grabbed it at the sale. Been loving running my own PC shop (except for the fuckwits who think they can get top-level graphics in their machine for the equivalent of a cup of coffee and think I'll take the job)... and running an e-sports team's IT department (except for the fact I'm not getting all the listed accolades in this week and it's driving the perfectionist in me absolutely bonkers as to what I'm missing), and working in a corporation's IT department with the latest update. I'd kill for a walkthrough because I'm just here for the story modes and to see how long I can run a PC repair/building shop before crashing and burning.
Really wishing the in-game shop had more of a filtered search for parts- being able to set parameters as to what I need would make things much easier to find instead of wasting cash on shit that ends up not fitting... or isn't compatible.

Remember that the game came out in 2016 when there weren't quite so many multiplayer survival games and was itself a spinoff of Don't Starve which released in 2013. I'm 99% sure I got Together for free because I owned Don't Starve so a lot of the players are veterans of the original and Together was probably designed with the assumption that players were familiar with the original.
I remember the original also being very unforgiving and I largely bounced off it but know a lot of people loved it. I just always found the combat extremely frustrating.

I once tried to charge an enemy on the other side of a closed gate in a big dungeon. Game realized I can't get through the gate so it pathed me all the way around the massive level to another closed gate, then once I got there and that didn't work either sent me back to where I originally left. All the while I was going at +300% run speed and had no control of my charging character. One of the funniest bugs I've ever seen in any game.
I don't think it's quite that bad with colors but it is an older game and that shows. Damn good ARPG and my most played Steam game at 1250 hours played (and I never leave games idling).
So everything is complete on our end. A pleasure doing business with you.
oooh let me know how that game is. i thought it looked interesting
@Enigmedic
Well, two hours in and I gave up. I did the intro section, then woke up in a town and learned about time limits for everyone. Went out to look for some stones and kept getting slaughtered. Interesting game, but a little too difficult for my tastes. My old man APM can't keep up with attacks from all directions requiring counters to stun/survive. And with a small health pool, death comes fast. It's just not for me anymore.
Not sure what to try out next. Any thoughts?

My 13 year long quest to finally finish Valkyrie Chronicles begins. Got through to Chapter 6 and am reminded how brilliant this game is. Also how well that cel-shaded anime art style holds up and always will.
I now own or have owned this game on
PS5
PS3
PC
Switch
And never managed to finish on any of them for various reasons.

Bummer. I'm not really looking to play something that hard. And my apm is shit these days as well. I played sc2 the other day and my apm was like 100 max, I mostly suck at fighting games due to crap reflexes, and I only get by in fps stuff due to experience.
Terraria has been nice the last couple weeks. No competition and min/maxing is quite a change. I feel like I've leaned more towards strategy and card games as I get older though. Simulation and crafting games can be fun too.
Any of you fine gentlepersons dabble on the VR side of PC gaming? I'm not looking to go crazy or anything. I'm assuming my PSVR gear would be practically worthless for PC. Is the Oculus Quest 2 decent for PCVR? I know Facebook/Meta is awful, but it's so cheap.

My older kid has the quest 2 and absolutely loves it.
Yeah, if being linked to Facebook isn't a deal breaker, the quest 2 is the most cost effective headset on the market (because they eat the costs to get your data)
They are getting rid of the Facebook requirement, but no one really knows what they are replacing it with.
Quest 2 is by far the best bang for buck ratio. It’s a really high resolution, more then the Index and almost on par with reverb 2.
Has some of the best tracking and being able to run games off the headset or through Pc is great.
I mostly use it for PCVR with the Virtual Desktop app which has built in AMD FSR which sharpens the image. Looks great, just know since it’s basically a 4k resolution you need a decent system to drive it for PCVR.
If you like older shooters as well check out DrBeefs VR ports of Doom 1&2 and a few others. They are so much fun.

I think it's different devs maybe? I have a memory that TQ has changed hands at least once. I could be wrong though.
