    @honk toward/forward/backward are correct

    towards/forwards/backwards aren't words

at least that's how my ex-catholic nun disciplinarian english teacher in grade school terrified me into thinking

    Allegedly a voice of reason.

    Morning [chat]

With less than 24 hours before my next exam, I have resorted to setting my notes to Les Mis lyrics

    We define a partnership:
    "The relationship between the men
Carrying on shared business with a view to profit" and we then
Take the facts we have at hand
Link them to John Gardner et al
Check if the profits shared are net
    And they notifiiied

    A spouse in a partnership
Can act just like an employee
    But the partnership agreement
    Won't act retrospectively
Saywell and Others v CIR said so, you seeeeeee

    Minors need to understand
The business that they're partners in
When you split the profits start with wages, interest owed and then
Each partner fills out their return
One does the partnership as well
Everyone has to pay fines if the return is laaate

    [Muffled sounds of gorilla violence]

Actually looking at the map for Delaware and the east coast in general raises a question.

How do you manage to have a beachfront that is detached from the mainland like that? A lot of the coastline is a beach and then water and then the landmass starts after that. It looks weird.

I’m pretty sure some of that coastline’s shape is human-engineered.

I spent over a decade living in south philly, just 20 miles from Delaware. I think I’ve been to Delaware fewer than 5 times in my life. There’s a major military base there, and the corporations. I guess technically there are a chunk of beach resorts but no one I know actually goes there? Maybe it’s too upmarket. I’ve heard of Rehoboth Beach but everyone I know goes to the beaches in New Jersey.

Huh. The appeals person that had been so helpful left a message on my voicemail saying that all further communications should be directed to member services.

This is after Wednesday her saying she would look into a few things for me that were unexplained in the original denial.

    This smells fishy as hell.

Elldren, I guess A Bridge Too Far is probably the last huge scale all star war movie Hollywood made until The Thin Red Line. No role too small for a huge star to be crammed in. I kind of parcel it together with The Longest Day or Midway (though Midway is kind of stodgy and not as good as the other two).

I think it's a fine film, one that's really grown in stature as the years have gone by. A great theme, ludicrously fine cast, a huge sense of scale about it and a kind of melancholy mood that the whole thing was a tremendous waste of time and lives, however bravely they were given.

The Anthony Beevor history of Arnhem is out in paperback soon so I'll be getting that and learning more about how Monty was overrated and barely capable of talking to anyone without offending them grievously.

I don't think Saving Private Ryan counts as all-star, really. It was Tom Hanks and a lot of kind of unknowns or hey isn't that such and such from whatsit? It's a big epic war movie, sure, but that's not quite the same thing as A Bridge Too Far or The Longest Day.

It's nice not to be typecast, and I'm sure always playing the bad Germans was tiresome, but I kind of bet guys like Wolf Kahler and Curt Jurgens fondly looked on WWII movies as their pension plan.
